AMAZING STORIES (Apple) - Edward Burns is set to star in and executive produce an episode of the anthology series revival. AMBITIONS (OWN) - Steven Williams and Christina Kirkman have both scored roles on the upcoming drama as Stephen Carlisle, "a powerful attorney and father of Stephanie (Robin Givens)"; and Lori, "a smart, challenging, force to be reckoned with who works as PR exec at Purifoy Pharmaceuticals, owned by her father, Hunter Purifoy," respectively. (Deadline.com)
DIRTY (Amazon, New!) - Danny Brocklehurst has sold a potential drama to the streaming service billed as "a brutally honest look at modern lives; the story of a principled woman who takes her first steps into a world of moral complexity. She discovers that everyone has their secrets, and that everyone, to some extent, is dirty." Merman's Sharon Horgan and Clelia Mountford; Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor; and Caryn Mandabach Productions' Caryn Mandabach and Jamie Glazebrook are also on board to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
DR. MIRAGE (The CW) - The netlet is taking a second stab at a small screen take on the Valiant Comics property, about a female paranormal investigator who can communicate with dead souls except the one she most wants to reach - the love of her life. Laurie McCarthy is penning the script, succeeding Gary Dauberman from 2016. DMG Entertainment's Dan Mintz and Chris Cowles will also executive produce for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
GRISHAM UNIVERSE, THE (Hulu, New!) - Michael Seitzman and Jason Richman are spearheading an innovative two-series drama project at the streaming service based on two John Grisham's novels, "The Rainmaker" and "Rogue Lawyer." Seitzman is leading the former with Richman in charge of the latter. It's understood "each series will be based on one of the books and will have its own storyline and cast but the two shows' plots will also be linked as they will share a villain, and some (but not all) characters from one show will appear on the other." In other words, viewers can watch each show on its own or bounce between both as each episode progresses. Grisham himself will also executive produce alongside the duo and Maniac Productions' Christina Davis for ABC Signature. (Deadline.com)
INSECURE (HBO) - Co-star/supervising producer Natasha Rothwell has signed an overall deal with the pay channel. She previously set up at a potential comedy at the network in 2016, which remains in development. (Deadline.com)
POLITICIAN, THE (Netflix) - Jessica Lange is the latest addition to the top secret Ryan Murphy-produced series. She joins the previously announced Dylan McDermott, January Jones, Zoey Deutch, Laura Dreyfuss, Lucy Boynton and Rahne Jones. It's not clear if Barbra Streisand and Gwyneth Paltrow, also reported to be in talks for the project, are still involved. (Deadline.com)
SERVANT (Apple) - Toby Kebbell is set to star opposite Lauren Ambrose in M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming series, about parents Dorothy (Ambrose) and Sean Turner (Kebbell), who have hired young nanny Leanne (Nell Tiger Free) to help care for their newborn child. Rupert Grint also stars. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)
SUPERGIRL (The CW) - Jessica Meraz has been tapped to recur on the series as DC Comics villain Pamela Ferrer a.k.a. Menagerie, "a member of Manchesters Black's Elite, a jewel thief who doesn't mind hurting people." (Deadline.com)
SWAGGER (Apple, New!) - Writer/director Reggie Rock Bythewood is set to team with NBA superstar Kevin Durant for a new drama at the company which "explores the world of AAU basketball in the nation's capital, and the players, their families and coaches who walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption." The project comes from CBS Television Studios with Bythewood, Thirty Five Ventures' Durant and Rich Kleiman, and Imagine Television's Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED BRENT MORIN PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Brent Morin ("Undateable") is back in business with the Peacock for a multi-camera comedy about Andy Hewitt (Morin) "who, in a desperate attempt to prove himself to his family after losing his dream job, has no choice but to take a retail job at the world's most fashionable department store." Morin and Matt Hausfater co-wrote the half-hour for Bill Lawrence and Jeff Ingold's Warner Bros. Television-based Doozer Productions. The news comes on the heels of Lawrence signing a reported five-year, eight-figure overall deal with the studio. (Deadline.com)
