IFC AQUIRES ACCLAIMED SERIES "FLEABAG"

Darkly Hilarious Programme Helmed by and Starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge Is Latest in Series of UK-Flavoured Comedies Coming to IFC

NEW YORK - 13 December 2018 - IFC today announced the acquisition of Fleabag from acclaimed creator, writer, actor Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The BAFTA-winning six-part series will premiere on IFC on Boxing Day, Wednesday, 26 December 2018. All six episodes of the critically hailed series will air beginning at 11:00 pm and encore again in late night.

Adapted from her play of the same name, the darkly hilarious and poignant Fleabag follows a dry-witted, unfiltered woman, played by Waller-Bridge, navigating life and love in London while trying to cope with recent tragedy. In addition to Fleabag, Waller-Bridge is also the writer and executive producer of the breakout hit Killing Eve, which earned her an Emmy nomination for outstanding writing for a drama series, Golden Globe and Critics' Choice nominations for Best Drama, and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for star Sandra Oh. Killing Eve airs on IFC's sister network, BBC AMERICA.

"Darkly witty and slyly subversive, Fleabag is unlike anything else on telly," said Blake Callaway, executive director of IFC. "We are delighted to welcome the 'slightly off' vision of Phoebe Waller-Bridge to IFC."

The half-hour comedy is the newest addition to IFC's impressive and increasingly international comedy line-up that includes two British series from Matt Berry - Toast of London and the upcoming original co-production Year of the Rabbit as well as the unique, subversive female voices of Canada's Baroness von Sketch Show.

Fleabag is produced by Two Brothers Pictures for BBC Three and Amazon Prime USA in association with DryWrite, directed by Harry Bradbeer (Killing Eve), and executive produced by Harry Williams and Jack Williams (Liar) of Two Brothers Pictures, Lydia Hampson (Cheat) and Waller-Bridge, and distributed by all3media International.
