NEW YORK, NY - JULY 23, 2020 -- SYFY announces SYFY WIRE AFTER DARK, a new interactive special premiering Saturday, August 1 at 11PM ET/PT, that will take viewers inside the weird and wonderful world of nerd fandom, from comic books and superheroes to wacky water toys and favorite summer movies. Hosted by Jackie Jennings and her talking cat sidekick, Mr. Scribbles, the 45-minute special is the first NBCUniversal show to feature NBCUniversal Checkout, the company's universal shopping cart that turns any piece of content into a shoppable moment. Dark Horse Comics, goodr sunglasses, and DC licensee Graphitti Designs have signed on as retail partners, offering viewers the chance to shop specially curated products throughout the show, bringing them closer to the SYFY content they love.

SYFY WIRE AFTER DARK will use both NBCUniversal Checkout and ShoppableTV so viewers can instantly buy what they see in the program, including graphic novels from some of Dark Horse Comics' most popular properties, The Witcher, Umbrella Academy, or the soon-to-be SYFY series Resident Alien, to goodr sunglasses' limited edition "Wonder Woman 1984" sunglasses, to "Superman," "Dark Nights: Death Metal" or "The Sandman" products from Graphitti Designs. Viewers simply scan the NBCU Code displayed on screen with their smartphone camera, and are taken to a seamless, native Checkout experience to complete their purchase.

The shoppable elements featured within SYFY WIRE AFTER DARK will span across the network's television, digital, editorial and social platforms. The network also plans to extend the NBCUniversal Checkout experience beyond the special to a weekly shoppable editorial series on SYFYWIRE.com. The shoppable articles will be curated in an online hub, so fans can shop their favorite gear alongside their favorite content.
