BLOOD RELATIVE (FOX) - Dawnn Lewis and Jude Elizabeth Mayer have both been cast in the Tate Donovan/Melissa Leo-led drama pilot. In a pair of recastings, Lewis will play Lieutenant Hannah Dixon, "the boss of homicide detectives John Kelly (Donovan) and Brick Doughty (Brown)"; while Mayer plays Ashley Kelly, "16 years old (going on 35), the daughter of John and Rebecca Kelly." They'll take over from Tracie Thoms and Sarah Catherine Hook, respectively. (Deadline.com)
CHAIR, THE (Netflix) - Holland Taylor has signed onto the Sandra Oh-led comedy series as Joan Hambling, "a witty, no-nonsense English professor working in the department chaired by Oh's character, Ji-Yoon. The two are close friends and confidants." Jay Duplass also stars in the project, from Amanda Peet and Annie Julia Wyman. (Deadline.com)
DEAR WHITE PEOPLE (Netflix) - Karamo Brown has scored a yet-to-be-revealed role on the show's final season. (Deadline.com)
DOOGIE KAMEĀLOHA, M.D. (Disney+) - Kathleen Rose Perkins has been cast in the reboot series as the title character's "spitfire Irish mother Dr. Clara Hannon, who's also Chief of Staff at the hospital and Lahela's supervisor." (Deadline.com)
HIGH MAINTENANCE (HBO) - The anthology comedy will not return for a fifth season. "Co-creators Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair have decided to take a break from producing High Maintenance to pursue other projects," the network said in a statement. "We look forward to hearing what they come up with next." (TVLine.com)
LAW & ORDER: SVU (NBC) - Annabella Sciorra will reprise her "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" role of Carolyn Barek in an upcoming episode this season: "All these years later, Barek is now a lieutenant in the Bronx Special Victims Unit. She'll show up on SVU when she forms a join task force with Capt. Olivia Benson and the Manhattan SVU to hunt down a series rapist who has struck in both boroughs." (TVLine.com)
REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK CITY, THE (Bravo) - The series will press pause for the second time after a cast member tested positive for COVID-19. Production was previously shut down for two weeks in October because of a crew member contracting the coronavirus. (Deadline.com)
SASQUATCH (Hulu, New!) - The streamer has landed a three-part series from director Joshua Rofé "which investigates rumors of a bizarre twenty-five-year old triple homicide said to be the work of a mythical creature." Rofé will also executive produce alongside Mark Duplass, Jay Duplass, and Mel Eslyn of Duplass Brothers Productions; Steven Berger of Number 19; and David Holthouse and Zach Cregger. M. Elizabeth Hughes produces. The series will launch this spring. (Deadline.com)
SECRET LIVES OF CHURCH LADIES, THE (HBO Max, New!) - Deesha Philyaw is developing a TV series based on her short story collection, which "explores the raw and tender places where Black women and girls dare to follow their desires and pursue a momentary reprieve from being good." Tessa Thompson is also on board to executive produce via her Viva Maude banner, which recently signed a two-year deal with HBO and HBO Max. (Deadline.com)
SPARROW, THE (FX) - The cable channel is taking a stab at bringing Mary Doria Russell's 1996 novel to the small screen, succeeding AMC's effort in 2014. Scott Frank is penning the adaptation, taking over from original writer Michael Perry. Johan Renck remains on board to direct and executive produce alongside Mark Johnson for AMC Studios and FX Productions. (Deadline.com)
SUCCESSION (HBO) - Sanaa Lathan, Linda Emond and Jihae Kim will recur on the upcoming third season as Lisa Arthur, "a high profile well-connected New York lawyer"; Michelle-Anne Vanderhoven, "a senior White House aide"; and Berry Schneider, "a leading Public Relations consultant," respectively. UNTITLED OPRAH WINFREY BIOGRAPHICAL DOCUMENTARY (Apple TV+, New!) - Academy Award-winner Kevin MacDonald is teaming with Lisa Erspamer and Rolake Bamgbose for a two-part documentary at the streaming service about billionaire multi-hyphenate Oprah Winfrey. MacDonald is directing the project, which "will chronicle 25 years of American history through the lens of one show and one woman who rose from humble roots to become a globally famous talk show host, producer, actress and philanthropist." Erspamer is producing and Bamgbose is serving as showrunner. (Deadline.com)
WHO FEARS DEATH (HBO) - Tessa Thompson has signed on to executive produce the long-in-the-works Nnedi Okorafor adaptation via her newly alunched Viva Maude banner. In addition, Aïda Mashaka Croal has signed on to pen the project, succeeding Selwyn Seyfu Hinds. Also executive producing are George R.R. Martin, Angela Mancuso and Michael Lombardo with Okorafor as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
