LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY (Apple TV+, New!) - Brie Larson is attached to star in a new series for the streamer: "Set in the early 1960s, "Lessons in Chemistry" follows Elizabeth Zott (Larson), whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a society deeming that women belong in the domestic sphere, not the professional one. When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone and fired from her lab, she musters the ingenuity only a single mother has. She accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives - and the men who are suddenly listening - a lot more than recipes, all the while craving a return to her true love: science." Susannah Grant is spearheading the project, which is based on the upcoming novel by Bonnie Garmus. Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan of Aggregate Films will executive produce alongside Larson and Grant for Apple Studios. Larson was previously set to topline another book-turned-TV series at Apple, "Life Undercover: Coming of Age in the CIA," which "stalled in the writing phase and was further delayed by COVID-19 pandemic." TURNER & HOOCH (Disney+) - The film-turned-TV series has tapped the following in recurring roles: Matt Hamilton as Trent Havelock, "Senior Deputy Marshal to Scott Turner (Josh Peck)"; Paul Campbell as Grady Garland, "Laura Turner's (Lyndsy Fonseca) ex-husband and Matthew's (Jeremy Maguire) father"; and Cristina Rosato as Olivia, "Xavier Watkins' (Brandon Jay McLaren) fiancée."
