The pairs move through three different rounds of increasing competition while being judged by pro dog trainer, Travis Brorsen and style judge, Crystal Powell, and one pair is eliminated in each round. The two best teams move on to the final showstopper round to see who wins game and $5,000.00 to donate to the charity of their choice.

From the high scores to the hometown heroes, Animal Planet has brought together the top dogs - the pups with the right stuff - for a special hour leading up to PUPPY BOWL XVII to reveal what for pup player's post-championship lives are like. And while they look like naturals on the field, their home turfs are a little different. Animal Planet takes audiences out on a road trip across the U.S. country to catch up with some of PUPPY BOWL's ruffest and fluffiest competitors. They may have played during different years and for opposing teams, but when they come together, they make up Puppy Bowl Nation.
