CALL ME KAT (FOX) - Alissa Neubauer has been tapped to succeed Darlene Hunt as showrunner on the series' second season. (Deadline.com)
COBRA KAI (Netflix) - Co-executive producers Joe Piarulli and Luan Thomas have signed a multi-year overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, home to the feature film-turned-TV series. The pact covers their duties on the series as well as future development. (Deadline.com)
DAYS OF ABANDONMENT, THE (HBO) - Rafe Spall will join the Natalie Portman/Mary-Louise Parker-led film as Oliver, "Tess' husband of fifteen years, doting father of their young children, beloved college professor. Charming and attractive, Oliver is an ideal husband." (Deadline.com)
HOW I MET YOUR FATHER (Hulu) - Chris Lowell is set to star alongside Hilary Duff in the spin-off series as Jesse, "a smart aspiring musician and Uber driver who is cynical about love." (Variety.com)
LOVE RULES (FX, New!) - April Shih is developing a new comedy at the cable channel as part of a new overall deal with FX Productions. Said effort, details of which were not released, also comes from Larry Wilmore, The District, Joanna Coles, and ABC Studios. She'll write and executive produce via her Diversity Hire Ltd. banner. NIGHT COURT (NBC) - Lacretta is the latest to board the sequel series pilot as Donna "Gurgs" Gurganous, "the court's bailiff, who takes her job very seriously. Big-hearted, intense and not big on boundaries, Gurgs is easily riled up and fiercely protective of her night court colleagues. She lives with multiple large dogs in a small Bay Ridge apartment." SURFACE (Apple TV+) - Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Stephan James, Ari Graynor, François Arnaud, Marianne Jean Baptiste and Millie Brady have joined the cast of the Gugu Mbatha-Raw-led drama series, billed as "an elevated thriller about a woman's quest to rebuild her life after a suicide attempt, and her struggle to remember - and understand - everything that led up to the moment when she jumped." Jackson-Cohen plays James, "Sophie's (Mbatha-Raw) husband and a well-connected and successful partner at a venture capital firm"; with James as Baden, "an undercover cop with a strong connection to Sophie"; Graynor as Caroline, "an heiress and old friend of Sophie and James"; Arnaud as Harrison, "a colleague and friend of James"; Baptiste as Hannah, "Sophie's therapist"; and Brady as Eliza, a "mysterious woman that connects to Sophie's past."
