Amazon Prime Video Announces New UK Original Comedy-Drama Series Mammals Written By Jez Butterworth and Starring James Corden, Sally Hawkins, Melia Kreiling, Colin Morgan, Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Samuel Anderson

Filming for the brand-new UK Amazon Original series commences this month

Mammals will be produced by Street Hassle in association with Vertigo Films and Fulwell 73 for Amazon Studios, and will launch exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories

LONDON, UK - 13th July 2021 - Amazon Prime Video today announced Mammals, a six-part UK Amazon Original comedy-drama series, written by two-time Olivier and Tony Award-winning Jez Butterworth (Jerusalem, The Ferryman, Spectre, Ford v Ferrari) and starring Tony, Emmy and BAFTA Award-winner James Corden (The Late Late Show, Gavin & Stacey), twice Oscar and BAFTA-nominated Sally Hawkins (Paddington, The Shape of Water), Melia Kreiling (Filthy Rich), Colin Morgan (Humans), Henry Lloyd- Hughes (Killing Eve) and Samuel Anderson (Witless). Directed by Stephanie Laing (Made for Love, Physical) and produced by Street Hassle in association with Vertigo Films and Fulwell 73, the series will launch exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories. Filming for the new series starts this month.

Details on the storyline of the new series are being kept a closely guarded secret, however writer Jez Butterworth gives us the following clue - "A good marriage is the most magical thing. In a world of eight billion, you've found the one who gets you, ignites your body and soul. Who allows you to grow and flourish. Who gives you the spark, the confidence to become you. You're also never going to have sex with anyone else, ever, and then you're going to die, and be dead forever."

"James Corden is the only ten-time Emmy winning chat show host to also win the Tony Award for Best Actor," said Jez Butterworth. "His performance in One Man Two Governors was like seeing Mickey Rooney, Terry-Thomas and The Marx Brothers rolled into one. His Smithy in Gavin and Stacey is for the ages - he took a needy, big-hearted mess of a supporting character and made it iconic. But neither is a patch on his Sea Monster in The Late Late Show "Shape of Water" sketch with Sally Hawkins. Google it."

"I am jubilant to be working with Sally again, and Colin Morgan too," added Butterworth. "Alongside the astonishingly talented Melia Kreiling, they make a team of world class story-tellers."

"Having seen all his plays, and having worked with Jez on three seasons of Britannia, I know that there is no better storyteller in the world to shine a light into the darkness of relationships." said James Richardson, Executive Producer and Co-Creator. "And no more talented, fearless, or funnier actors than James, Sally, Melia, Colin and Samuel to portray our leads."

"I'm absolutely thrilled to be announcing this Amazon Studios collaboration with the highly talented Jez Butterworth," said Georgia Brown, Head of European Originals, Amazon Studios.

"This fantastic cast will bring Jez's compelling scripts to life, and we are delighted to be sharing Mammals with Prime Video audiences globally," added Dan Grabiner, Head of UK Originals, Amazon Studios.

The series director and co-executive producer is Stephanie Laing (Made for Love, Physical), the series will be produced by Georgina Lowe (Mr. Turner, Sanditon) and Executive Produced by Jez Butterworth, James Corden and James Richardson. Mammals is created by Jez Butterworth and James Richardson.

Mammals will join the thousands of TV shows and movies in the Prime Video catalogue, including UK produced Amazon Original series such as Good Omens, The Grand Tour, All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur, Truth Seekers and All or Nothing: Manchester City; hit movies like Coming 2 America, Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, the Golden Globe and Academy Award nominated movies One Night in Miami and Sound of Metal; and critically-acclaimed global Amazon Original series including Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, The Boys, Homecoming and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, all available on Prime Video at no extra cost for Prime members.
