LIFETIME PARTNERS WITH BEST-SELLING AUTHOR TERRY MCMILLAN ON NEW ORIGINAL MOVIES UNDER THE BANNER "TERRY MCMILLAN PRESENTS"

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 5, 2024) - As part of Lifetime's 40th Anniversary, the network reunites with award-winning, critically-acclaimed #1 New York Times bestselling author Terry McMillan for a new partnership to executive produce several new original movies under the banner, "Terry McMillan Presents." McMillan is best known for her novels turned hit films, How Stella Got Her Groove Back and Waiting to Exhale. Her new movies for Lifetime will also focus on the love and lives of African American women. Lifetime previously collaborated with McMillan for A Day Late and a Dollar Short featuring the all-star cast of Whoopi Goldberg, Mekhi Phifer, Anika Noni Rose, Kimberly Elise, Tichina Arnold, and Ving Rhames. The original movies under the "Terry McMillan Presents" banner will be announced later this year along with casting information.

"Terry is an American treasure with her ability to capture the female experience in finding love and happiness," said Elaine Frontain Bryant, EVP and Head of Programming, A&E, Lifetime and LMN. "We are so excited to partner with her on these new movies that I know will also resonate with our viewers."

"As women, we can be messy. We can be complicated. We can be so many things," said author Terry McMillan. "Life is never tied up in a bow so it's thrilling to be back in business with Lifetime who allows women to tell our own stories in an authentic way."

Terry McMillan is the #1 NYT Bestselling author of 12 books, including Waiting to Exhale and How Stella Got Her Groove Back, which were both adapted into major motion pictures. Her debut novel Mama won the Doubleday New Voices Award as well as The American Book Award, and her second novel Disappearing Acts became an HBO film in 2000. Her sixth novel, A Day Late and a Dollar Short, became a Lifetime Original Movie starring Whoopi Goldberg. In addition to winning the NAACP Image Award and the Essence Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award, all of Terry's novels have been New York Times Bestsellers, including her latest release, It's Not All Downhill From Here.
