CULVER CITY, California - May 29, 2024 - Today, Prime Video announced it has ordered Young Sherlock to series with Guy Ritchie (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, The Covenant, The Gentlemen) directing and executive producing. Hero Fiennes Tiffin (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, The Woman King) will star in the title role as Young Sherlock. The series is being written and executive produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill (Deep State, Rogue) with executive producers Simon Kelton (Eddie the Eagle), Ivan Atkinson (The Gentlemen), Simon Maxwell (The Woman in the Wall, Deep State), Dhana Gilbert (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Colin Wilson (The Mandalorian), Marc Resteghini, and co-executive producer Harriet Creelman. It is inspired by Andy Lane's critically acclaimed book series Young Sherlock Holmes. Physical production is running through Motive Pictures. Young Sherlock will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Prime has all your entertainment and streaming needs in a single membership.

With all the wit and charm of Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes features, Young Sherlock will be an irreverent, action-packed origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character. At age 19, Sherlock Holmes is disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed, when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University which threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever.

"In Young Sherlock we're going to see an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they've never imagined before," said Guy Ritchie. "We're going to crack open this enigmatic character, find out what makes him tick, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love."

"This exciting, new chapter about one of the world's best-known literary characters, will delight our global customers with its captivating storytelling" said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. "With the brilliant creative team, led by Guy Ritchie and Matthew Parkhill, we will explore untold mysteries of how young Sherlock found his way to a life of truth-seeking."

Kelton originally conceived the project and packaged it with Atkinson, then partnered with Motive, Gilbert, and Resteghini, who developed and brought the series to Amazon MGM Studios. Gilbert and Resteghini have overall deals with Amazon MGM Studios.

Hero Fiennes Tiffin starred in Guy Ritchie's most recent feature, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. He will soon star in survival thriller Above the Below opposite Idris Elba, directed by Elba and Martin Owen for Lionsgate; as well as original romantic comedy, Picture This for Prime Video. Other film credits include The Woman King, First Love, The Loneliest Boy in the World, The Silencing and After film franchise.

Inspirational Entertainment is an independent British production company, founded by writer/producer Simon Kelton (Eddie The Eagle) and producer Heather Kelton (Flight, A Christmas Carol, Monster House), specializing in stories that are as inspiring as they are entertaining.

Motive Pictures is an independent British production company, founded by CEO Simon Maxwell, specializing in premium drama series and feature films for the UK, US and international markets. Harriet Creelman is co-executive producer for the company. Matthew Parkhill is a British writer, director, and showrunner known for his award-winning TV series Deep State and Rogue as well as feature films such as The Caller and Dot the i. He wrote and is executive producer of the upcoming Costeria, with Jesse Williams.

Dhana Gilbert is an Emmy Award-winning producer behind acclaimed series Boardwalk Empire, Vinyl, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Prior to producing television juggernauts, she worked on critical and commercial theatrical films including Road to Perdition and Cast Away. She is currently serving as an executive producer on the upcoming Sherman-Palladino series Étoile for Prime Video.

Marc Resteghini serves as executive producer in the first project greenlit under his Jack Tar Pictures banner at Amazon MGM Studios. He recently set up an animated adaptation of the best-selling Wings of Fire book series at the streamer. A nine-year veteran of Amazon's executive ranks, he most recently oversaw all development for the streamer - shepherding hits like Reacher, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Colin Wilson most recently served as Executive Producer on series Ahsoka, the Emmy Award-winning The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and feature films including Suicide Squad and the Oscar-nominated Zero Dark Thirty. With a history of traversing studio and independent filmmaking, Wilson has worked with everyone from Steven Spielberg and Richard Donner to Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron on numerous iconic films like Avatar, Amistad, Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones. Wilson will produce the series.

Andrew Lane, author of the young adult thriller novels Young Sherlock Holmes, will join as executive producer for the series.
