NEW YORK - June 5, 2024 - FOX Nation will debut a new three-part series entitled Strike Zone: The Congressional Baseball Shooting on Tuesday, June 11 hosted by FOX News White House correspondent Peter Doocy. During the special, Doocy will share the story of the June 14, 2017 shooting that occurred during a practice session for the annual Congressional baseball game, featuring firsthand accounts from the survivors and first responders.

In commenting on the special, Doocy remarked, "I covered this shooting at the time, and have kept up with the headlines in the years since. Standing at second base next to Majority Leader Scalise and hearing his firsthand re-telling of the story that changed his life forever, was one of the most moving experiences of my career. There were many heroes on June 14, 2017, and I am honored to be able to help share their stories."

Strike Zone: The Congressional Baseball Shooting details the course of events at Eugene Simpson Park in Alexandria, Virginia nearly seven years ago. During a practice session for the annual Congressional baseball game, James T. Hodgkinson opened fire on the field, shooting almost 70 rounds and critically injuring Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA) and lobbyist Matt Mika, while striking Capitol Police Special Agent Crystal Griner and Zach Barth, a staffer for Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX). Featuring interviews with Rep. Scalise, Mika, Capitol Hill police officer David Bailey, trauma surgeon Dr. Libby Shroeder, FOX News senior congressional correspondent Chad Pergram and others, Doocy retells the story with eyewitness accounts of the victims and the heroes that day.

Episode 1: Feeling Berned

Following Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 election, an angry supporter of Bernie Sanders plots a mass assassination of Republican lawmakers.

Episode 2: Out of Left Field

Would-be assassin James Hodgkinson opens fire at a baseball field filled with GOP lawmakers.

Episode 3: Suicide Squeeze

First responders scramble to save the wounded, investigators issue a controversial report about Hodgkinson's motivations, and one of his victims makes a dramatic return to the baseball diamond.

As White House correspondent, Doocy covers the president of the United States' domestic and international activities as well as the issues impacting the administration. In this capacity, he also represents the network in the White House press briefings along with fellow White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich. Throughout his tenure with the network, Doocy has played a role in every major political election since 2009. During the 2020 election, he covered then-candidate Joe Biden's presidential campaign beginning with his April 2019 candidacy announcement.
