Prime Video's Upcoming Series "House of David" Casts Its David

After completing an international search, Michael Iskander is cast in lead role

Production underway in Greece

CULVER CITY, California - June 12, 2024 - Today, Prime Video announced that production is underway in Greece on the upcoming biblical epic drama, House of David. The series is based on the rise of King David, and is the first project from Amazon MGM Studios and The Wonder Project. Following a four-month international search, Michael Iskander has been cast as David, fresh off his role in the Tony award-winning musical, Kimberly Akimbo. The series also stars Ali Suliman (Jack Ryan, Arthur the King) as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer (Angels and Demons, Man Of Steel) as Queen Ahinoam, Saul's trusted wife, Stephen Lang (Avatar: The Way of Water, Don't Breathe) as Samuel, and Martyn Ford (Mortal Kombat 2, The Sandman) as Goliath. The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

House of David tells the story of the ascent of biblical icon, David, who eventually becomes the most famous king of Israel. The series follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. At the direction of God, the prophet Samuel anoints an unlikely, outcast teenager as the new king. As Saul loses his power over his kingdom, David finds himself on a journey to discover and fulfill his destiny, navigating love, loss, and violence in the court of the very man he's destined to replace. For one leader to rise, another must fall.

"House of David is our telling of a 3,000 year old hero's journey, and it all starts with our David, Michael Iskander. Finding Michael and getting to work with him has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. Our entire cast is incredible, and I can't wait for a global audience to get to know them the way I do," said House of David executive producer and director Jon Erwin.

Rounding out the international cast are Indy Lewis (Industry, King and Conqueror) as Mychal and Yali Topol Margalith (Tattooist of Auschwitz, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2024)) as Mirab, Saul's daughters; Ethan Kai (The Turkish Detective, Carnival Row) as Jonathan, Saul's son and heir apparent; Oded Fehr (Star Trek: Discovery, La Cocina) as Abner, Saul's advisor; Louis Ferreira (Shogun, Breaking Bad) as Jesse, David's father; Davood Ghadami (Eastenders, The Chelsea Detective) as Eliab, David's eldest brother and decorated warrior in King Saul's army; and Ashraf Barhom (Tyrant, The Last Planet) as Doeg, a mysterious Edomite.

House of David is based on an idea by Jon Erwin. Erwin, Jonathan Walker, Jon Gunn, Justin Rosenblatt, Chad Oakes, and Mike Frislev are also executive producers on the series. Justin Rosenblatt will serve as the executive in charge of production on behalf of The Wonder Project. Dallas Jenkins, the creator and producer-director of The Chosen, is a large shareholder and special advisor to The Wonder Project.

In association with The Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios, House of David is produced by Nomadic Pictures and Argonauts, along with Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate Television.Prime has all your entertainment and streaming needs in a single membership.
