Prime Video Orders "Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story," A Docuseries About Iconic Lisa Frank Brand

The series, directed by Arianna LaPenne, comes from Sony Pictures Television's Maxine Productions

CULVER CITY, California - September 5, 2024 - Today, Prime Video announced it has ordered Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story, a four-part documentary series about the popular Lisa Frank brand. Directed by Arianna LaPenne, the series comes from Sony Pictures Television's Maxine Productions (Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV). It will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story is a four-part documentary event that penetrates the neon-hued world of Lisa Frank Inc., a brand that defined girlhood for a generation of Americans only to seemingly disappear overnight. Behind the rainbows and psychedelic illustrations, we unravel a nostalgia-soaked, stranger-than-fiction tale that takes us into the hidden world that has been lurking at the heart of the company for decades. Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story features never-before-seen footage and over twenty interviews with Lisa Frank, Inc insiders, enthusiasts, and journalists.

"Lisa Frank's signature rainbow-hued brand evokes core memories and nostalgia for generations of students - and yet there was so much more happening behind the scenes," said Lauren Anderson, head of Brand and Content Innovation, Amazon MGM Studios. "Thanks to Maxine Productions, Sony Pictures Television, and Alysia Russo - the earliest champion of this series - audiences will discover the reality nestled behind the neon."

Mary Robertson, Founder and President of Maxine Productions, said: "Like so many of us, I grew up with a deep attachment to Lisa Frank products, relishing the sense of whimsy, magic, and creativity they brought to daily life. I am honored by the opportunity to work with our incredible director Arianna LaPenne, showrunner Lisa Kalikow, Amazon Prime Video, Sony Pictures Television - Nonfiction, and my colleagues at Maxine Productions to share this astonishing true story that may forever change the way you think about rainbows and unicorns."

Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story is produced by Maxine Productions, a part of Sony Pictures Television - Nonfiction (SPTNF). Executive producers for Maxine Productions are Mary Robertson and Lisa Kalikow, and Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman are executive producers for SPTNF. Arianna LaPenne is director and co-executive producer.
