Viaplay US Announces November Slate Featuring the Highly Anticipated US Debuts of Two of Viaplay's Biggest Series REBUS and RONJA, the Robber's Daughter

New English-Language series on Sir Ian Rankin's Iconic Detective makes its US premiere November 7, while Season 1 of the Classic Fantasy Adventure Series debuts November 21

Rebus stars Richard Rankin (Outlander) and aired on the BBC to rave reviews; Ronja aired outside of the US on Netflix and was its #1 Series in Sweden and in the Top 10 in 15 Countries

Viaplay Content Distribution is thrilled to bring two of its biggest series ever Stateside with the highly anticipated US debuts of Rebus and Ronja, the Robber's Daughter this November. Based on the internationally best-selling Inspector Rebus novels by Sir Ian Rankin, the critically acclaimed new adaptation of Rebus with Richard Rankin (Outlander) in the title role debuts in the US on Thursday, November 7 with all six episodes available to binge on the Viaplay US streaming service. Written by the creator of The Bridge and based on Astrid Lindgren's classic fantasy book, the captivating family saga Ronja, the Robber's Daughter, Season 1 debuts in the US on Thursday, November 21 with all six episodes. Focused on the best in Nordic and European series and films, the Viaplay streaming service is available as on add subscription for just $5.99 a month on Prime Video Channels, The Roku Channel, Sling TV, XUMO, and Comcast Xfinity.

Called "The most irresistible incarnation yet" (The Guardian), the English-language series Rebus aired in the UK this summer on BBC One to rave reviews and more than 10 million streams on BBC iPlayer. Set in Edinburgh, the crime thriller reimagines the iconic character John Rebus as a younger Detective Sergeant, drawn into a violent criminal conflict that turns personal when his brother Michael, a former soldier, crosses the line into criminality. Rebus finds himself torn between protecting his brother and enforcing the law to bring Michael to justice. Rebus offers a fresh interpretation of the beloved character from Sir Ian Rankin's acclaimed detective novels, which have sold more than 30 million copies and been translated into 36 languages. Produced by Eleventh Hour Films for Viaplay, the six-part series is written by the award-winning Gregory Burke ('71) and is skillfully directed by BAFTA-winner Niall MacCormick (Complicit, The Victim) and Fiona Walton (Shetland, London Kills).

Written by Hans Rosenfeldt (creator of iconic Nordic series The Bridge and Marcella) and updated for fans of the fascinating fantasy worlds of Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings, Ronja, the Robber's Daughter, Season 1 is an adventure-filled story from beloved Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, who has sold more than 165 million books worldwide (the "Pippi Longstocking" series). Considered one of the most ambitious Nordic series ever, Season 1 reached Netflix's Top 10 in 15 countries including France, the Nordics, Poland & the Netherlands and was the #1 TV series in Sweden. The enchanting, coming-of-age story follows the adventures of a young girl born into a band of robbers set in and around a fortress in medieval Scandinavia. As Ronja grows up, she braves the mystical forest teeming with both enchanting and fearsome creatures like the wile-wings and gray dwarfs. When Ronja befriends the young boy Birk from a rival gang of robbers, a vicious family feud ignites. Season 1 will be available both subtitled and dubbed in English.

Gerald Biart, Viaplay Group, VP Partnership, Growth & Marketing: "We're thrilled that US audiences have been embracing Nordic storytelling and signing up to stream the very best in Nordic and European series and films on the Viaplay US streaming service. In celebration, we're excited to bring them two of Viaplay's biggest series ever with the November US debuts of Rebus and Ronja, the Robber's Daughter. From the gritty, visceral action of iconic Scottish detective Rebus to the remarkable fantasy world of Ronja, these two series exemplify the very best on television."

Also in November and timed to the Formula 1 US race in Las Vegas, Viaplay continues to celebrate racing superstar Max Verstappen with six more documentaries, including Max Verstappen: Anatomy of a Champion (November 25).

Viaplay Content Distribution, a division of Viaplay Group, is responsible for the company's content sales, the Viaplay Select branded content concept, and the international Viaplay subscription on demand channel, which is available in the US, Canada and the United Kingdom.
