ABBOTT ELEMENTARY/AFTER MIDNIGHT/ALL AMERICAN/DOCTOR ODYSSEY/GEORGIE & MANDY'S FIRST MARRIAGE/GREY'S ANATOMY/HACKS/HAPPY'S PLACE/JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!/LEANNE/LOOT/NCIS/NCIS: ORIGINS/PITT, THE/S.W.A.T./SPIDER-NOIR/SUITS LA/TED (Various) - The aforementioned Los Angeles-based TV series were among those to "temporarily shut down production as wildfires continue to ravage areas of the city." BOARDERS (Tubi) - Alan Cumming and Natalie Cassidy have both signed onto the show's second season. Cumming will play Alan, "a man with high standards of the students at St. Gilbert's," and Cassidy will appear as Sharon Hail, "a teacher at a rival school." Previously announced new cast members include Wunmi Mosaku, Cara Theobold, Michael Salami and Kendra Brown. (Deadline.com, 1/8)
HOLES (Disney+, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a pilot for a small screen take on Louis Sachar's novel-turned-film: "In this reimagining of the beloved 1998 book from Louis Sachar, a teenage girl is sent to a detention camp where the ruthless Warden forces the campers to dig holes for a mysterious purpose." Alina Mankin penned the pilot script and will executive produce alongside showrunner Liz Phang, Drew Goddard, Sarah Esberg and Mike Medavoy for Goddard Textiles, Walden Media, Shamrock and 20th Television. Andrea Massaro is a co-executive producer. (Variety.com, 1/7)
HYPER KNIFE (Hulu, New!) - Park Eun-bin and Sul Kyung-gu will topline the streamer's latest Korean drama, which will originate on Disney+ internationally come March 19: "The medical crime thriller tells the story of Jeong Se-ok (played by Park), a formerly successful neurosurgeon who works as a shadow doctor in an underground surgery clinic after being expelled by her mentor, Choi Deok-hee (played by Sul). Soon, both doctors reunite, reigniting a tense and emotional rivalry." (Deadline.com, 1/10)
STAR WARS: AHSOKA (Disney+) - Rory McCann will succeed the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll on the show's second season. (theinsneider.com, 1/9)
TWISTED LOVE (Netflix, New!) - Ana Huang's romance novel franchise is being developed as a TV series by the streamer in a seven-figure option deal: "A steamy new adult series that follows the lives of four best friends and their brooding love interests, riddled with dark secrets from their pasts, as they overcome the obstacles keeping them apart to fall in love." UNTITLED GRIMM REBOOT PROJECT (Peacock, New!) - Josh Berman is spearheading a new movie take on NBC's "Grimm" franchise for sibling Peacock, details of which are being kept under wraps. Said report indicates: "It is believed to have ties to the series for diehard fans but could also be easily accessed by new viewers not familiar with the original mythology as it introduces new mythology and characters." Original co-creators David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf will also executive produce alongside Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner for Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television. NBC proper previously tried to mount a revival in 2018 from Melissa Glenn. (Deadline.com, 1/6)
UNTITLED NELLY & ASHANTI PROJECT (Peacock, New!) - The streamer is reportedly filming a new docuseries featuring hip hop stars Nelly and Ashanti, who welcomed their first child together last year. Nelly Haynes and Ashanti Haynes will also executive produce alongside Jenny Daly and Oji Singletary for Critical Content Studios. (Deadline.com, 1/7)
