Netflix Announces Fictional Miniseries About The 1970 Championship

São Paulo, February 25, 2025 - Netflix and 02 Filmes are teaming up to launch a new fictional miniseries about the great players who led the Brazilian national football team to their third championship victory in the 1970 international tournament. Directed by Pedro Morelli and Paulo Morelli and created by Naná Xavier and Rafael Dornellas, the production will recreate iconic moments from the tournament and reveal the human side of sports legends who made history both on and off the field.

Inspired by real events, the miniseries will dive into the challenges, passions, and fears that accompanied players such as Pelé, Tostão, Félix, Carlos Alberto, Jairzinho, Gérson, and Rivellino, as well as coach Zagallo, during the preparation and competition of the tournament. The storyline unfolds during one of the most remarkable moments in both football and Brazilian political history, amidst the harshest phase of the military regime, while the team showcases their brilliance on the field under the immense pressure of representing an entire country.

With filming in Brazil and Mexico, the production will recreate classic plays and behind-the-scenes moments that helped build the legacy of one of the greatest football teams of all time. The miniseries does not yet have a premiere date.
