A Tender Tale Unfolds: 'The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity' Premieres July 6

Beloved by manga enthusiasts, The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity by Saka Mikami has captured the hearts of fans with its gentle and sincere storytelling. Serialized on the official Weekly Shonen Magazine app, Magazine Pocket, the manga has distinguished itself in the shonen genre, selling over five million copies as of June 2025.

Anticipation for the series has reached new heights, with the official X account gaining 80,000 followers even before the first episode's premiere, and the trailer amassing over 2.4 million views. We are thrilled to unveil a second stunning piece of key art and a new trailer, along with the announcement that Tatsuya Kitani will perform the opening theme song, while Reira Ushio sings the ending theme.

The newly released key art beautifully captures a tender moment between Rintaro Tsumugi and Kaoruko Waguri, as they gaze into each other's eyes while walking side by side. What unique worlds will they inhabit, and what will their journey look like?

The trailer offers the first-ever glimpse of scenes from the anime, brought to life with the opening theme "Manazashi wa Hikari" by Tatsuya Kitani and the ending theme "Hare no Hi ni" by Reira Ushio. Together, these elements set the stage for a vibrant coming-of-age story set to grace your screens this summer.

The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity streams starting July 6 on Netflix.

*Regions outside of the Japan time zone (JST) will have different launch dates accordingly.

About The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity

STORY

This story unfolds in a particular town where two infamous schools are in constant dispute: Chidori High, a boys' school primarily attended by students with challenging academic records, and its neighbor, Kikyo Girls' High, known for its students hailing from wealthy and prestigious families.

One day, Rintaro Tsumugi, a second-year student at Chidori with a fierce appearance but a gentle heart, is assisting at his family's patisserie when he meets a customer named Kaoruko Waguri. Rintaro cherishes his interactions with Kaoruko, as she doesn't judge him based on his looks. However, this serene connection is abruptly shaken when Rintaro discovers that Kaoruko is actually a student at Kikyo. This revelation sets the stage for their challenging journey, as they strive to overcome the societal barriers imposed by their schools and environment, seeking to carve out their own path.
