Prime Video Announces August 7 Premiere Date for "Taurasi"

Prime Video also released the official trailer and key art for the upcoming three-part docuseries from Skydance Sports, Meadowlark Media and Institute on basketball trailblazer Diana Taurasi

NEW YORK - July 17, 2025 - Today, Prime Video announced an August 7 premiere date and released the official trailer and key art for Taurasi, a three-part docuseries chronicling the extraordinary journey of basketball legend Diana Taurasi, whose relentless pursuit of greatness has transcended the boundaries of sport. Taurasi will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, and is the latest addition to the Prime membership. Prime members enjoy savings, convenience, and entertainment all in a single membership.

"Diana's greatness isn't just in her game, but in her grit, wit, and refusal to fit the mold," said Taurasi director and executive producer Katie Bender Wynn. "From Argentina to UConn, six Olympics, to Phoenix, to post-Soviet Russia, she chased excellence - and respect - on her own terms. Taurasi is a cinematic portrait of an icon who never asked to be discovered - only understood."

Pioneer. Iconoclast. G.O.A.T. These words - and more - describe the remarkable arc of basketball legend Diana Taurasi, whose personal and professional journey to the top of her sport are truly singular. Highlighted by three NCAA Championships at the University of Connecticut, three Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) titles with the Phoenix Mercury, six Olympic gold medals, and six Euroleague crowns, Taurasi established a new standard for excellence, crafting a resume - and creating an on-court style - that may never be equaled.

Taurasi's journey to the top has been as complex as it is remarkable. Fiercely competitive and unapologetic, she has navigated scrutiny both on and off the court, including high stakes challenges during stints playing abroad in Russia and Turkey. Through it all, her unwavering loyalty to teammates and devotion to family have defined her just as much as her brilliant and fearless style of play.

Now, through incisive, remarkably candid interviews with Taurasi, her relatives, teammates, coaches, agent, journalists and others who've witnessed her path first-hand, including Sue Bird and Geno Auriemma, this three-part documentary series is a sweeping portrait that will reveal a funny, defiant, vulnerable, imperfect, and deeply relatable athlete, whose authenticity and commitment to greatness have revolutionized women's basketball.

The documentary arrives at a significant moment in basketball history, following Taurasi's recent retirement from the sport she dominated for decades. Her decision to step away from professional basketball marks the end of an era, concluding one of the most influential careers in sports.

Presented by Prime Video Sports and Skydance Sports, Taurasi is produced by Meadowlark Media and Institute, in association with Difficult Media, and directed by Katie Bender Wynn. The series is executive produced by Jesse Sisgold, Jason Reed, and Jon Weinbach of Skydance Sports; John Skipper and Deirdre Fenton of Meadowlark Media; Lauren Greenfield and Frank Evers of Institute; and Kate Fagan and Katie Bender Wynn.
