Old Dog, New Tricks premieres on Netflix October 3
Netflix has announced the premiere date and released a selection of images for Old Dog, New Tricks, its new comedy series starring Luis Zahera (Wrong Side of the Tracks, Unauthorized Living) and produced by Alea Media, set to launch on Netflix on October 3.
Old Dog, New Tricks tells the story of Antón (Luis Zahera), a rural Galician veterinarian who, amid the ongoing crisis in the farming world, finds himself without clients because his neighbors can no longer afford to pay him. With few options left, he accepts a job offer from his niece Uxía (Lucía Caraballo, I Don't Like Driving), the upbeat manager of a boutique pet store - a perfectly designed, colorful space stocked with more gourmet products than a supermarket. Between dog grooming sessions, hamster check-ups, and pet owners who are fussier than their animals, Antón soon realizes that surviving in this new ecosystem won't be easy.
The cast also includes Carmen Ruiz (Love in Difficult Times) and Antonio Durán "Morris" (Cocaine Coast). The executive producers are Aitor Gabilondo (Patria, Muted, Yo, adicto) and Jota Aceytuno (Urban. La vida es nuestra), with direction by Alberto de Toro and Víctor García León, who co-wrote the script alongside Ana Boyero, Araceli Álvarez de Sotomayor, Germán Aparicio, and Dani Castro (Ep. 1).
Filmed entirely in Galicia, Old Dog, New Tricks is set in the fictional rural town of Topomorto, recreated from various locations across municipalities in A Coruña such as Dioño, A Calle, Pontemaceira, Parroquia, Teo, and Vedra, as well as the city of Santiago de Compostela.
This comedy proves that adapting to change can be tough - especially when that change means going from treating cows to diagnosing a guinea pig's dyslexia.
