Marjorie Estiano and Any Gabrielly Star in 'Habeas Corpus' (Working Title), Netflix Brazil's First Courtroom Drama
São Paulo, December 2 - Today, Netflix announced that Marjorie Estiano and Any Gabrielly will star in Habeas Corpus (working title), an upcoming drama series with a gripping legal plot inspired by a real case that was reviewed after a conviction. The ensemble also features Danton Mello, Marisa Orth, Naruna Costa, Natália Lage, and Vladimir Brichta.
Inspired by the work of the Innocence Project Brasil, a national organization dedicated to overturning wrongful convictions, the series follows a law professor (Marjorie Estiano) who leads a post-conviction review group in an effort to prove the innocence of a young man unjustly convicted. What she doesn't know is that her brightest student (Any Gabrielly) is seeking justice for a tragic wrongdoing.
Directed by Luiz Villaça, who co-created the series alongside Leonardo Moreira and Donna Oliveira, Habeas Corpus (working title) is produced by Café Royal, with Adriana Tavares as executive producer. Episodes directed by Luiz Villaça and Flávia Lacerda. The script was written by Leonardo Moreira, Donna Oliveira, Jeferson Tenório, Silvia Gomez, and Victoria Negreiros, with assistance from Luiza Aron. The cast also includes Felipe Ricca, Hypólito, Luiza Gabus Mendes, Nicolas Lee, Paula Cohen, Pedro Roza, and Renata Gaspar, among others.
