ACCIDENTAL ASSASSIN, THE (Amazon, New!) - Drew Lindo and Azie Tesfai are set to team to bring Nichole Chase's novel to TV at Amazon MGM Studios: "The Accidental Assassin follows Ava Dumont, who always plays it safe, until she goes to London and encounters Owen Walker, a professional assassin with abandonment issues... and accidentally kills his target. Now these two polar opposites are forced to work together in a partnership that blurs the line between right, wrong, and the messy bits in between." Frank Spotnitz and Adrian Banyard will also executive produce. (Deadline.com, 2/24)
BRIDE WARS (Peacock, New!) - Emma Roberts is attached to star in a TV series at the streamer based on the 2009 film: "Set against the charming backdrop of North Carolina, Bride Wars, the TV series, follows a big-city wedding planner (Emma Roberts) whose arrival in a small town sparks an epic showdown with a beloved local planner. As the two women battle to plan the same wedding, their rivalry quickly escalates into a larger clash over friendship, community, and, ultimately, love." Sascha Rothchild is behind the project with Roberts, Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, Natalie Lehmann, Karah Preiss, Matt Matruski, Alexandra Milchan, and Martin Salgo also executive producing for New Regency, Belletrist, Crescent Line, 20th Television and UCP. BRILLIANT MINDS/CHICAGO FIRE/CHICAGO MED/CHICAGO PD/HUNTING PARTY, THE/LAW & ORDER/LAW & ORDER: SVU/STUMBLE (NBC) - A report on the network's yet-to-be-renewed series indicates the five Dick Wolf-produced dramas "all look poised for renewal"; while "Brilliant Minds" and "The Hunting Party" are "on the bubble, with 'The Hunting Party' considered the stronger of the two"; and "Stumble" is "very much on the bubble." (Deadline.com, 2/23)
CUPERTINO (CBS) - Busy Philipps, Rob McClure, Joe Morton, and Steven Pasquale have all been cast in the upcoming drama. Philipps will play Natalia, "the beautiful and delightfully blunt first wife of an AI Billionaire, who divorced her when she turned forty. Now Natalia wants revenge and agrees to finance Michael (Mike Colter) and Olivia's (Rachel Keller) start-up law firm in order to go after his and other AI businesses." McClure then is Bo, "a potential client who approaches the firm of protagonist attorneys Michael and Olivia firm for representation"; with Morton as Bayard, "Michael's celebrity lawyer father who casts a long shadow and values success above all else"; and Pasquale as Ry, "a successful Silicon Valley lawyer who knows how to take control of a room." ELLE (Amazon) - Maitreyi Ramakrishnan will recur on the show's recently ordered second season as Sam, "Elle's foil - possessing all our hero's ambition and none of her optimism. She's the founder, editor-in-chief, and lord baron of the school newspaper, the commissioner of the grammar police, and the enemy of joy. If Cosmo is Elle's bible, The AP Stylebook is Sam's holy grail..." (Deadline.com, 2/26)
EXTRA (Synidcation) - The newsmagazine is a go for season 33 on the Fox Television Stations with Derek Hough returning as host. (Deadline.com, 2/23)
FRISCO KING (A.K.A. NOLA KING) (Paramount+) - The Samuel L. Jackson-led spin-off is relocating from New Orleans, LA to Frisco, TX as part of a creative overhaul by executive producer Taylor Sheridan, who will now write all eight episodes. Dave Erickson was previously attached as showrunner, but bowed out in July. (Deadline.com, 2/24)
HAUNTING OF ALEJANDRA, THE (Hulu, New!) - Steven Paul Martinez has sold a small screen take on V. Castro's novel to the streamer: "The Haunting of Alejandra is billed as a recurring series blending psychological horror and social commentary that explores supernatural Mexican mythology. Wife, lawyer and millennial mom Alejandra finds herself struggling psychologically on maternity leave, but quickly finds it's not run-of-the-mill postpartum; instead, she's in a fight-to-the-death struggle with the legend of the famous La Llorona." Eva Longoria, Cris Abrego, Gigi Saul Guerrero, and Raynor Shima will also executive produce for Hyphenate Media Group, Luchagore, and 20th Television. Castro will receive a producer credit. HOW TO SURVIVE WITHOUT ME (HBO Max) - Daniel Minahan has been tapped to direct the drama pilot starring Ray Romano and Joshua Jackson. (Deadline.com, 2/23)
HUNTING WIVES, THE (Netflix) - Casey Mills will appear in at least five episodes as Nico in the show's second season. No other character details were given. (Deadline.com, 2/25)
INTERROGATOR, THE (FOX) - Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie have been tapped as showrunners of the Stephen Fry-led drama series. (Deadline.com, 2/25)
LAST SECOND CHANCE (Hulu, New!) - Writer Corey Nickerson and director Nahnatchka Khan are set to team for a domestic take on the Japanese series "Rebooting" at the streamer: "The series is about a woman who is literally given a second chance at life - this time around she must change her ways and prevent her own murder, which raises bigger questions about whether change is possible or if everything is predetermined." Jonathan Eirich, Jonathan Gabay, Michael LoFaso, Robert Leger, and Jennifer Carreras will also executive produce for Rideback, Fierce Baby, and 20th Television. (Deadline.com, 2/27)
MARSHALS (CBS) - Ellyn Jameson will recur on the "Yellowstone" spin-off series as Dolly Weaver, "the daughter of a rancher." (Deadline.com, 2/24)
MONOPOLY (Netflix) - Studio Lambert has been tapped to produce the streamer's reality competition game show based on the iconic board game from Hasbro Entertainment. (Deadline.com, 2/27)
NANNY SQUATTER, THE (Apple TV, New!) - Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cecily Strong are attached to star in a limited series at the streamer which "centers on a couple whose lives are upended after welcoming a seemingly ideal caregiver into their home, only to find boundaries blurred and control slipping as the arrangement spirals into a tense, unsettling power struggle." Writer/director Mary Bronstein is behind the project, which is inspired by the New York Magazine article by Bindu Bansinath. All three will executive produce alongside Scoop Wasserstein for Vox Media Studios, New York Magazine, and Apple Studios. (Variety.com, 2/26)
NCIS: ORIGINS (CBS) - Newly minted solo showrunner David J. North has signed an overall deal with producer CBS Studios. (Deadline.com, 2/25)
NEVER TO BE FOUND (Amazon, New!) - Angela Kang has sold a new drama to Amazon MGM Studios: ""Never to Be Found" is a psychological thriller that weaves together themes of disappearance, identity, obsession, and the long shadow of trauma. The novel alternates between present-day Brighton/York and flashbacks to Japan and London, following protagonist Veronica Page as she becomes entangled with a suspected murderer while confronting her own painful past." The project is based on the upcoming novel by Jo Spain. Kang, Spain, and Kang & Co Entertainment's Mandy Safavi are the executive producers. (Variety.com, 2/25)
NEWLYWEDS (NBC) - Tim Daly will star opposite his real-life wife Tèa Leoni on the comedy pilot as Tony: "Recently divorced, Tony accidentally runs into Jeanie (Leoni) at a valet stand and is so taken with her beauty and spirit that they wind up having dinner together anyway. Tony soon realizes that his life with Jeanie is not going to be the quiet, stay-at-home lifestyle he enjoys, but he also knows he'd rather change his ways than live without her." (Deadline.com, 2/24)
ROCKFORD FILES, THE (NBC) - Michaela McManus will star opposite David Boreanaz in the reboot pilot as Kate, "an East Hollywood detective whose romantic relationship with Rockford got complicated after he publicly accused fellow officers of framing him. Kate is a new character created for the potential NBC series, not one that existed as part of the original which ran from 1974 to 1980 with James Garner leading the cast as the titular detective." SAFE HOUSES (Apple TV) - Leland Orser has been cast in the Jennifer Connelly/Ana de Armas-led thriller in an unspecified role. (Deadline.com, 2/27)
SEASON, THE (Hulu, New!) - The streamer will be the U.S. home to a six-episode drama from Fremantle this summer: "The show centers on an established social circle whose idyllic boating season is upended when a young outsider enters their world. As the summer unfolds, hidden secrets come to light, alliances shift and personal ambitions begin to reshape relationships in unexpected ways." The cast includes Jessie Mei Li, Karena Lam, Chris Pang, Justin Chien, Yvonne Chapman, Celina Jade, and Toby Stephens with Kōki, Lee Jae-yoon, Lyman Heung, Anson Lo, and Marf Yau making special appearances. Writer Yalun Tu and director Marialy Rivas are behind the project with Janice Lee, Agatha Lo, Chloe Dan, Matt Aragachi, and Dylan Tarason also executive producing for De Maio Entertainment, PCCW Media, and SK Global. SUPERFAKES (Peacock) - Dustin Nguyen will recur on the Lucy Liu-led drama as Henry, "a shifty, old-school, tattooed gangster. A man of many contradictions: commanding but insecure, ruthless but loyal, frequently paranoid, always superstitious. He projects confidence but is a man adrift, a cockroach who has survived a decades-long career of racketeering and crime, as much by luck as by skill." (Variety.com, 2/27)
SWAP MEET (Hulu, New!) - Comedian Ralph Barbosa will star in a proposed animated series at the streamer: "Swap Meet finds down-on-his luck Ralph (Barbosa) working with the Cortez's - his aunt's brash, proudly blue-collar Mexican American family that work different jobs at the Eastgate Swap Meet, a delightfully low-rent retail paradise with an infinite amount of goods and services." Isaac Gonzalez is behind the project with Barbosa, Blake Griffin, Ryan Kalil, and Noah Weinstein also executive producing for Mortal Media, Sony Pictures Television, and 20th Television Animation. UNTITLED CHRIS HARRISON PROJECT (FOX Nation, New!) - Chris Harrison will host a new dating series for the streamer: "The show will search for single men and women who want a "traditional, marriage-minded partnership built on commitment and shared values" and are "dating with real intention"." Lionsgate Television is behind the project, which is the "early stages of pre-production with casting and filming to take place in the coming months." UNTITLED DEL TREDICI AND GOOR PROJECT (NBC) - Jake Johnson has signed on to lead the comedy pilot as Mickey: "Smart, cynical and heartbroken, but trying to pretend he's not, Mickey is a private investigator with a knack for solving cases. Formerly an LAPD cop until his life imploded three years ago." (Deadline.com, 2/25)
WITCHES OF CAMBRIDGE, THE (Hulu, New!) - The streamer is developing a small screen take on the upcoming novel by Alice Hoffman: "The series will follow two brilliant young women in 1950s Cambridge, Massachusetts, as they become immersed in a mysterious secret group of witches at Radcliffe known as the Lilith Society." Noah Hawley's 26 Keys is producing. No other auspices were given. (Deadline.com, 2/26)
YELLOWJACKETS (Showtime) - June Squibb and Molly Ringwald will both recur on the show's final season. Squibb's role being kept under wraps while Ringwald will play Van's (Lauren Ambrose, Liv Hewson) mom, Vicky, "a recently recovered alcoholic trying her best to course correct her past." Additionally, creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson have signed an overall deal with Paramount Television Studios. The duo had previously been set up directly with Showtime. (Deadline.com, 2/25)
YOU'RE ONLY YOUNG TWICE (CBS, New!) - Ashley Tisdale is attached to star in a multi-camera comedy at the Eye: "Written by Tommy Johnagin, the project centers on Emily (Tisdale) and Alex, who got pregnant and married in high school but now they're 35 and their kid is starting college. That means they can get divorced and start life all over again while they're still young enough to enjoy it. Newly divorced empty-nesters, they stumble through dating, co-parenting, and maybe a second chance at love." Johnagin and Tisdale executive produce with Mandy Summers for CBS Studios.
