AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE (Disney+) - Alfonso Gomez-Rejon has signed on to direct and executive produce the first two episodes of the comic book-turned TV series. (Deadline.com, 10/19)
APOLOGY, THE (Netflix, New!) - Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow will topline a new series at the streamer which has a two-season straight-to-series order: "The Apology, written by Joe Murtagh (Say Nothing), follows Evelyn (Paltrow) and Caleb Amspoker whose son was murdered 18 years ago in a cold case that gripped the nation. Faced with that unbearable truth, Evelyn and Caleb decide to take matters into their own hands." Paltrow, Murtagh, and Joe Hipps will executive produce alongside Oscar winning director Thomas Vinterberg for A24 and Cut To. (Deadline.com, 10/19)
BANNERMAN (AMC) - Emmy winner Jeff Daniels is the first to be cast in the drama series as Raymond Lesko, "an infamous NYPD detective, currently working a hotel security gig after being thrown off the force for taking revenge following the murder of his ex-partner, who still haunts him to this day. COACH (NBC, New!) - Ty Burrell is on track to star in a reboot of the 1989-97 series from Daniel Libman and Matthew Libman for the network: "Written by the Libman brothers, Coach centers on a legendary coach - the role earmarked for Burrell - who returns home to Minnesota to rebuild his alma mater's basketball program and reconnect with his community." The project would also transition to a single-camera format rather than the original's multi-camera. When police stumble across a bank robbery mid-heist, the criminals barricade themselves inside and a terrifying siege begins. The series opens from the police perspective, led by hostage negotiator Sylvia "Vox" Voxley (Minnie Driver) as she battles time and rising pressure to save the hostages. As the crisis hurtles towards breaking point, the story rewinds, pulling viewers inside the bank to relive the same events through the eyes of the robbers and their hostages." Writers Ben Harris and Jesse O'Mahoney and directors Andy Tohill and Ryan Tohill are behind the project, from Dynamic Television and Clapperboard Studios. Mike Benson, Andy Morgan, Daniel March, and Tamryn Reinecke are the executive producers with Jake Rollins producing. (Deadline.com, 10/22)

He is convinced that ghost stories, monsters and other supernatural anomalies are "bugs" in an underlying conspiracy, so begins inviting people to share their experiences and evidence at his Night Tales Club in exchange for 20 million yen." Takayuki Yamada stars as Hojo, the storyteller, with Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Takashi Shimizu, Shinzo Katayama, Yukiko Sode, Yuichiro Sakashita, Yosuke Nakamura, and Kenji Nakajima among the directors. Can they conquer their fears and commit to a forever? Settling is an opposites-attract half-hour comedy asking: Can we make a relationship work simply because we can't afford for it not to?" At the center of the program is the USS Seaview, a retro-futuristic submarine found entombed in the ice, marked with symbols from a history that shouldn't exist, and it powers up only when Lee steps aboard. Thrust into command of a pressure-cooker crew and an uneasy alliance with government power brokers, Lee leads Seaview on daring undersea missions to contain mysterious forces leaking into our world, all while uncovering a hidden truth about the oceans, an erased chapter of human history, and the once-thought mythical city of Atlantis." ZERO HOUR (Paramount+, New!) - Matthew Michael Carnahan has sold a new sci-fi thriller series to the streamer: "In Zero Hour, written by Carnahan, when mysterious ovals appear in the sky, the world changes forever. In the minutes that follow, a wife fights to keep her ailing husband alive, a doomsday prepper races to get his family to safety, teenage runaways are caught in the middle of a bank robbery, and a brilliant young presidential aide scrambles to make sense of it all. What begins as a pulse-pounding survival story slowly unravels into a sweeping mystery, as the truth about who these visitors are, and why they have come, upends everything humanity thought it knew about first contact."
