SCI FI DELIVERS 8 CONSECUTIVE QUARTERS WITH OVER 1 MILLION VIEWERS IN PRIME
Highest 2Q Delivery of P18-49 and P25-54 in Channel's History
New York, N.Y. -- July 8, 2005 -- SCI FI Channel closed out 2Q05 as a Top 10 rated network among P25-54 and P18-49 in primetime - delivering its highest ever 2Q performance within those demos. Additionally, SCI FI has scored its eighth consecutive quarter with a 1.0 rating and over 1 million viewers in prime.
SCI FI's Saturday action movies drove its 2Q05 success, accounting for 35 of the Channel's Top 37 telecasts for the quarter. The April 9 premiere of the SCI FI original movie 'Snake King' was the highest-rated second quarter original movie in SCI FI history and the highest-rated second quarter movie for SCI FI since the premiere of 'Tremors 3: Back to Perfection' (April 13, 2002).
"Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part 2," the shocking season one finale of SCI FI's critically-acclaimed hit series 'Battlestar Galactica,' delivered the highest-rated second quarter primetime telecast in the history of SCI FI (April 1, 2005). The episode also became the highest-rated season finale of any series in the network's history.
Building upon this ratings success, SCI FI embarks upon its biggest summer ever, with the July premieres of two full nights of original series, 'SCI FI Friday' and 'SCI FI Wednesday.' On Friday, July 15, SCI FI's hit original dramas return - 'Stargate SG-1,' 'Stargate Atlantis' and 'Battlestar Galactica.' Then, on Wednesday, July 27, SCI FI premieres its night of alternative series, featuring the return of 'Ghost Hunters,' the irreverent animated comedy 'Tripping the Rift' and the series debut of 'Master Blasters,' a fuel-injected competition series where the sky and imagination are the only limits.
