CBS WINS THURSDAY IN VIEWERS AND KEY DEMOS AGAINST INCREASED COMPETITION FROM THE PREMIERE OF "DANCING WITH THE STARS" AND NBC'S NEW COMEDY NIGHT
An Original "CSI" Remains the Night's Top Program
"CSI" Rebroadcast At 8:00 PM Tops NBC First Run Comedies in Viewers,
Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54
CBS again easily won Thursday in viewers and key demographics against increased competition that included the two-hour premiere of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and NBC's new Thursday comedy lineup, according to preliminary Nielsen ratings for Jan. 5.
At 9:00 PM, CSI was first in households (16.8/25), viewers (27.37m), adults 25-54 (11.4/25), adults 18-49 (9.3/23) and adults 18-34 (6.7/19) and was the night's most watched and highest rated program in households, adults 18-34, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.
At 10:00 PM, WITHOUT A TRACE won its time period in households (13.4/22), viewers (20.60m), adults 25-54 (7.9/19) and adults 18-49 (6.7/17). WITHOUT A TRACE beat "ER" by +46% in households (vs. 9.2/15), +8% in adults 18-49 (vs. 6.2/16) and +11% in adults 25-54 (vs. 7.1/17) and by over +6.6m viewers (from 13.98m, +47%).
Earlier, at 8:00 PM, a rebroadcast of CSI was second in households (9.7/15), viewers (15.10m), adults 18-49 (4.5/12, -0.1 behind ABC) and adults 25-54 (5.7/14, -0.3 behind ABC). The CSI special rebroadcast beat NBC's first run sitcoms in both half-hours in households, viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.
For the night, CBS was first in households (13.3/20), viewers (21.02m), adults 25-54 (8.3/19), adults 18-49 (6.8/18) and adults 18-34 (4.9/14).

At 10:00 PM, WITHOUT A TRACE won its time period in households (13.5/22), viewers (20.94m), adults 25-54 (8.0/19) and adults 18-49 (6.8/18). WITHOUT A TRACE beat "ER" by +47% in households (vs. 9.2/15), +10% in adults 18-49 (vs. 6.2/16) and +13% in adults 25-54 (vs. 7.1/17) and by almost 7m viewers (from 13.97m, +50%). WITHOUT A TRACE was the night's #2 program in households, viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

For the night, CBS was first in households (13.2/20), viewers (20.94m), adults 25-54 (8.3/19), adults 18-49 (6.8/17) and adults 18-34 (4.8/14). CBS has won every Thursday this season in households and viewers and won 15 of 16 weeks in adults 18-34, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.
