NBC WINS WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN ADULTS 18-49, AS 'THE BIGGEST LOSER' AND 'MEDIUM' DELIVER SEASON-HIGH RATINGS

MONDAY'S 'DEAL OF NO DEAL' IS THE WEEK'S #2 SHOW IN TOTAL VIEWERS

NBC IS UP 16 PERCENT IN 18-49 AND 19 PERCENT IN 18-34 THROUGH THE FIRST 13 WEEKS OF THE 2006-07 SEASON, THE ONLY MAJOR NETWORK TO SHOW GROWTH IN THESE KEY DEMOS

BURBANK, Calif. � December 19, 2006 � NBC ranked #2 for the week in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, as well as in overall total viewers, averaging a 3.2/9 in 18-49 and 9.1 million viewers overall for the week of December 11-17, according to "live plus same day" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC was the only network to exhibit growth in adults 18-49 versus the same week last year. Compared with the 13th week of last season, NBC this week was up 14 percent in adults 18-49 (3.2 vs. 2.8), up 12 percent in adults 25-54 (3.7 vs. 3.3), up 23 percent in adults 18-34 (2.7 vs. 2.2) and up 9 percent in total viewers (10.2 million vs. 8.3 million). This marks the eighth consecutive week that NBC has improved on its 18-49 rating versus the same week last year.

The "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Kansas City Chiefs versus the San Diego Chargers was the #2 program of the week in adults 18-49 and the #1 telecast of the week among men 18-49 (out of a total 96 programs this week).

Monday's "Deal or No Deal" ranked #2 among all shows this week in total viewers, averaging 16.7 million viewers overall.

Wednesday's finale of "The Biggest Loser 3" paced NBC to its first Wednesday primetime win of the season in 18-49. "Biggest Loser" ranked #10 among all programs this week in adults 18-49, and was the #3 show of the week among women 18-49 and the #2 show among women 18-34.

For the first 13 weeks of the 2006-07 television season, NBC is the only network showing year-to-year gains in adults 18-49. NBC is up 16 percent versus the same period last year (3.7 rating versus 3.2). In that same comparison, ABC is down 3 percent, CBS is down 5 percent and Fox is down 6 percent. Season-to-date in total viewers only NBC and ABC are showing gains year-to-year. NBC is up 10 percent versus the opening 13 weeks of the last season (10.3 million vs. 9.3 million). ABC is up 3 percent by that measure, while CBS is down 4 percent and Fox is down 1 percent.

NBC is also the only network showing growth season-to-date among adults 18-34, up 19 percent versus the first 13 weeks of last season (3.1 vs. 2.6).

Primetime averages for the week of December 11-17 in adults 18-49 were CBS (3.7/10), NBC (3.2/9), Fox (2.9/8), ABC (2.5/7), Univision (1.7/5), CW (1.0/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (12.3 million), NBC (9.1 million), Fox (7.4 million), ABC (7.2 million), Univision (3.8 million), CW (2.5 million) and Telemundo (0.8 million).

NBC highlights for the week of December 11-17:

* On Monday, "Deal or No Deal" dominated its time period, with a 53 percent advantage over its nearest competitor in 18-49 and a winning margin of more than 8.0 million overall total viewers (versus CBS' second-place comedies). "Deal" was television's #1 show on Monday night in total viewers.

* NBC won its first Wednesday night of the season in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, as both "The Biggest Loser" and "Medium" achieved their highest numbers of the season.

* On Wednesday, "The Biggest Loser" two-hour finale delivered NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period in two-and-a-half years (excluding Olympics). "The Biggest Loser" ranked #1 for the time period in adults 18-49, 18-34, 25-54 and all key adult female demographics.

* On Thursday, a special one-hour telecast of "The Office" was #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults, men and women 18-34. Among adults 18-34, "The Office" was television's #7-ranked show this week.

* NBC won Sunday night in adults 18-49, paced by "NBC Sunday Night Football," which boosted the network 138 percent above its nightlong in 18-49 average for the same Sunday last year.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of December 11-17:

On Monday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (4.6 rating, 13 share in adults 18-49, 16.7 million viewers overall) dominated its time period with a 53 percent margin of victory in 18-49 (4.6 vs. 3.0 for CBS' second-place comedies). In overall total viewers, "Deal" won by more than 8.0 million viewers. "Deal" was up 92 percent versus NBC's 18-49 result on the same night last year (4.6 vs. 2.4). "Deal" was the #1 show on television Monday night in total viewers.

Monday from 9-11 p.m. ET, the NBC holiday movie "The Year Without a Santa Claus" (2.5/6 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in kids 2-11.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. ET, "Friday Night Lights" averaged a 2.2/6 in 18-49 and 5.7 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., an encore "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" delivered a 2.1/5 in 18-49 and 7.4 million viewers overall. And at 10 p.m. ET, an encore "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.9/8 in 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) built by 38 percent in 18-49 rating versus its lead-in from the previous hour. "SVU" won the hour in overall total viewers.

On Wednesday, Dec. 13 from 8-10 p.m. ET, the finale of the current cycle of "The Biggest Loser" (4.8/13 in 18-49, 11.7 million viewers overall) scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period in two-and-a-half years (since May 5, 2004; excludes Olympics) "Loser" was up 71 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's season-to-date average for the time period (4.8 vs. 2.8). This was the top-scoring edition of "Biggest Loser" in both 18-49 and total viewers since Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005.

"The Biggest Loser" ranked #1 for the time slot in adults 18-49, as well as in adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult female demographics. "Loser" built dramatically through the telecast, increasing by 53 percent in 18-49 rating from its first half-hour to its fourth (to a 5.5/14 from a 3.6/11) and by 42 percent or nearly 4.0 million overall viewers (to 13.4 million from 9.4 million)

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, "Medium" (3.7/10 in 18-49, 10.0 million overall) conjured up its highest 18-49 rating and overall viewership of the season. "Medium" was up 19 percent in 18-49 rating and 16 percent in overall viewership versus the prior week. "Medium" ranked #2 in the hour in 18-49, total viewers and other key measures.

On Thursday, Dec. 14 from 8-9 p.m. ET, a special hour-long telecast of "The Office" (3.9/11 in 18-49, 8.4 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults, men and women 18-34.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, "Scrubs" (3.8/10 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-49. "Scrubs" was up 12 percent in 18-49 versus NBC's pre-"Scrubs" average this season in the time period. From 9:31-10:01 p.m., "30 Rock" (2.8/8 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall) won its slot in men 18-34. From 10:01-11 p.m., an encore "ER" (3.0/9 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall) won the hour in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demos.

On Friday, Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. ET, "1 vs 100" (2.3/7 in 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) was #2 for the time slot in the 18-49 and ranked #1 (tied) in adults 18-34. From its first half-hour to its second, "1 vs 100" increased in 18-49 rating by 25 percent (to a 2.5/8 from a 2.0/7).

At 9 p.m. ET, "Las Vegas" (2.5/7 in 18-49, 8.4 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in the time period in 18-49, tied with CBS' "Close to Home," and #1 outright among adults 18-34. At 10 p.m., an encore "Law & Order" averaged a 2.0/5 in 18-49 and 6.7 million viewers overall.

On Saturday, Dec. 16 from 8-11 p.m. ET, NBC's telecast of the 1946 classic film "It's a Wonderful Life averaged a 1.5/5 in 18-49 and 5.4 million viewers overall. The holiday evergreen built from its first half-hour to its last by 75 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.1/7 from a 1.2/4) and by more than 2.2 million viewers overall. "It's a Wonderful Life" won the 10-11 p.m. ET hour by all key ratings measures.

On Sunday, Dec. 17, the "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Kansas City Chiefs versus the San Diego Chargers averaged a 5.8/14 in adults 18-49, 15.3 million viewers overall and a 9.9/16 household rating and share from 8:23-11:08 p.m. ET.

NBC won Sunday night in the key demographic of adults 18-49.

Chiefs-Chargers football was up 115 percent versus the 2.7/6 NBC averaged from 8:30-11 p.m. on the same night last year. Versus the comparable night on NBC in 2005, NBC's Sunday nightlong average this week was up 138 percent in 18-49 (5.0/13 vs. 2.1/5) and up 94 percent in total viewers (13.129 million vs. 6.767 million).

Also on Sunday, "Football Night in America 2" from 7:30-7:57 p.m. ET averaged a 1.9/5 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall and a 2.9/5 in households. "Football Night in America 3" from 7:57-8:12 p.m. delivered a 2.9/8 in 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall and a 5.2/9 in households. From 8:12-8:21 p.m., "NBC Sunday Night Football Pre Kickoff" averaged a 3.7/10 in 18-49, 10.2 million viewers overall and a 6.7/11 in households. Note: "Football Night in America" from 7-7:30 p.m. ET was sustaining programming and does not figure in the nightly or weekly primetime averages.
