HALLMARK CHANNEL CELEBRATES 2006 AS ITS HIGHEST-RATED YEAR EVER

Network Also Delivers Highest-Ever-Rated Quarter, Month, Week, Day and Telecast in Channels History

Hallmark Channel closed 2006 on the highest notes in the family-friendly programmers five-year history: its highest-ever-rated quarter (4Q 06), month (December), week (11/27-12/3/06), day (11/25/06) and telecast (The Christmas Card) in 2006. Moreover, this marks the first time that the network ranked in the top 10 for a full year for both Prime Time and Total Day HH ratings.

For both 4Q and December 06, Hallmark Channel ranked among the top 10 cable networks for both Prime Time and Total Day HH and W25-54 ratings. The network also ranked in the top 10 for its 4Q A25-54 Total Day rating and its December A25-54 Prime Time rating. Year to year, Hallmark Channel increased +20% in Prime Time HH rating and +14% in Total Day HH rating the largest increase among the top 10 rated cable networks.

When we launched in 01 we knew it would take time to reach a top 10 status, but we have been fortunate to reach that tremendous goal in under five short years, said David Kenin, EVP, Programming, Hallmark Channel. We look forward to building on this success in 2007 and providing our viewers, advertisers and distribution partners with a continuous slate of valuable and family-friendly programming options.

The networks stellar 2006 ratings performance is mainly attributed to the channels original and theatrical movie premieres in 2006. The most recent and notable premieres include the U.S. television premiere of March of the Penguins (11/25, 4.1 HH rating) as well as three premiere original holiday movies: The Christmas Card (12/2, 4.2 HH rating), What I Did For Love (12/9, 2.8 HH rating), and Loves Abiding Joy (12/16, 2.5 HH rating). The four movies combined delivered the most successful holiday season ever for the network with an average 3.4 HH rating and 2.5 million homes. December 06 also attracted a record 22.9 million unique viewers over November 06. This is up from 17.5 million unique viewers in December 05.

Hallmark Channel, owned and operated by Crown Media Holdings, Inc., is a 24-hour basic cable network that provides a diverse slate of high-quality entertainment programming to a national audience of 75 million subscribers. The top tier program service is distributed through more than 5,300 cable systems and communities as well as direct-to-home satellite services across the country. Hallmark Channel consistently ranks among the top 10 ad-supported cable networks in Prime Time and Total Day household ratings and is the nations leading network in providing family-friendly programming. Crown Media also operates a second 24-hour linear channel, Hallmark Movie Channel.
