NBC IS UP 16 PERCENT IN BOTH 18-49 AND 18-34 THROUGH THE FIRST 18 WEEKS OF THE 2006-07 SEASON, MAKING IT THE ONLY MAJOR NETWORK SHOWING GROWTH IN THESE KEY DEMOS

BURBANK, Calif. � January 23, 2007 � NBC averaged a 3.0 rating, 8 share in adults 18-49 and 9.3 million viewers overall for the week of January 15-21, according to "live plus same day" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

For the first 18 weeks of the 2006-07 television season, NBC is the only network showing year-to-year gains in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49. NBC is up 16 percent versus the same period last year (3.6 rating versus 3.1). In that same comparison, ABC is down 10 percent, CBS is down 3 percent and Fox is down 3 percent. Season-to-date in total viewers, only NBC and Fox are showing gains year-to-year. NBC is up 9 percent versus the opening 18 weeks of the last season (9.9 million vs. 9.1 million). Fox is up 4 percent by that measure, while ABC is down 7 percent and CBS is down 3 percent.

Additionally, NBC is the only network showing growth season-to-date among adults 18-34, up 16 percent versus the first 18 weeks of last season (2.9 vs. 2.5).

Primetime averages for the week of January 15-21 in adults 18-49 were Fox (6.3/15), CBS (5.4/14), ABC (3.1/8), NBC (3.0/8), Univision (1.8/4), CW (1.2/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (16.5 million), Fox (15.2 million), NBC (9.3 million), ABC (8.8 million), Univision (4.2 million), CW (2.9 million) and Telemundo (0.9 million).

NBC highlights for the week of January 15-21:

* On Monday, NBC's telecast of "The 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards" delivered NBC's highest-rated non-Olympic Monday among adults 18-49 in more than two-and-a-half years and most-watched non-Olympic Monday in total viewers in more than seven years

* Paced by the highest-rated "Golden Globes" in three years, NBC won Monday night in adults 18-49, 18-34, 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

* On Tuesday, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" dominated its time period, winning in all key ratings categories including adults 18-49 and total viewers. In 18-49, "SVU" locked up a 68 percent winning margin over its nearest competitor.

* On Thursday, "My Name is Earl" won its time period in adults 18-49 and other key demographics.

* Also on Thursday, "The Office" was up 10 percent in 18-49 versus its season average for original episodes and up 32 percent versus NBC's average in the time period last season, excluding sports. "The Office" ranked #2 in 18-49 for the time slot and #1 among adults 18-34 and all key adult male demographics.

* NBC won Friday night in adults 18-49 and total viewers, marking its seventh Friday win of the season in primetime's key demo and third win in overall viewers. Both "1 vs. 100" and "Las Vegas" won their respective slots in 18-49 and total viewers.

* On Sunday, both "Grease: You're the One That I Want" and "The Apprentice" matched their week-age ratings, despite fierce competition from the primetime telecast of the Patriots-Colts AFC championship game. And "Crossing Jordan" increased week-to-week by 9 percent in 18-49 and 14 percent in total viewers.

* "Grease: You're the One That I Want" jumped 47 percent above NBC's 18-49 rating for the time slot on the same night last year.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday, Jan. 15, NBC's telecast of "The 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards" (6.5 rating, 15 share in 18-49, 20.0 million viewers overall) delivered NBC's highest-rated non-Olympic Monday among adults 18-49 in more than two-and-a-half years (since May 3, 2004) and most-watched non-Olympic Monday in total viewers in more than seven years (since May 3, 1999).

This was the highest-scoring "Golden Globes" in both adults 18-49 and total viewers in three years, since Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004. This year's "Golden Globes" telecast was up 3 percent versus last year's result in 18-49 and up 1.2 million viewers overall, to rank as the season's #1 awards show to date in 18-49 and total viewers

NBC won Monday night in adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, total viewers and other key demographics, topping competition that included Fox's first Monday telecasts this season for "24." The "Golden Globes" telecast improved on NBC's first-place Monday 18-49 season average by 51 percent (6.5 vs. 4.3 in "live plus same day").

On Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 1.9/5 in 18-49 and 6.9 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., an encore "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" delivered a 1.9/4 in 18-49 and 7.7 million viewers overall.

Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (4.7/12 in adults 18-49, 14.2 million viewers overall) dominated its time period, winning in all key ratings categories, including adults 18-49 and total viewers. In adults 18-49, the margin of victory was 68 percent (4.7 vs. a 2.8 for ABC's second-place "Boston Legal"). Among women 18-34, "SVU" outperformed ABC and CBS combined.

On Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Friday Night Lights" averaged a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m. "Deal or No Deal" delivered a 2.2/5 in 18-49 and 8.6 million viewers overall.

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, "Medium" (3.1/8 in 18-49, 9.0 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures.

On Thursday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. ET, "My Name is Earl" (4.2/12 in 18-49, 9.8 million viewers overall) won its time period in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and all key adult male demos. Versus the same night last year, "Earl" improved the time slot for NBC by 31 percent in 18-49 (4.2/12 vs. 3.2/9) and by 2.3 million viewers overall.

Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET, "The Office" (4.6/11 in 18-49, 9.3 million viewers overall) was up 10 percent in adults 18-49 versus its season-to-date average for original episodes and up 32 percent versus NBC's non-sports average in this time period last season. "The Office" ranked #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and #1 among adults 18-34 and all key adult male demos.

Thursday from 9-9:32 p.m. ET, "Scrubs" delivered a 2.9/7 in 18-49 and 6.5 million viewers overall. From 9:32-10:01 p.m., "30 Rock" averaged a 2.4/6 in 18-49 and 5.0 million viewers overall. And from 10:01-11 p.m., an encore "ER" averaged a 2.5/7 in 18-49 and 6.1 million viewers overall.

On Friday, Jan. 19 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "1 vs 100" (2.5/8 in 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in the time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. "1 vs 100" was up by 25 percent in 18-49 versus NBC's rating in this time period on the same night last year. At 9 p.m., "Las Vegas" (2.8/8 in 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in the time slot in adults 18-49 and total viewers. At 10 p.m. ET, an encore "Law & Order" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 7.8 million viewers overall) finished within 0.1 of the time period lead in 18-49 and was #1 (tied) among men 18-34 and men 18-49.

NBC won Friday night in adults 18-49 and in total viewers. This marks the network's seventh Friday win of the season in 18-49 and third in overall viewers.

On Saturday, Jan. 20, from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" delivered a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 5.3 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., an encore telecast of "Crossing Jordan" averaged a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers overall. At 10 p.m., an encore "Law & Order: SVU" delivered a 1.7/5 in 18-49 and 6.3 million viewers overall.

On Sunday, Jan. 21, from 7-8 p.m. ET, a Sunday edition of "Deal or No Deal" (2.4/6 in 18-49, 8.9 million viewers overall) surged dramatically from its first half-hour to its second, increasing by 67 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.0/7 from a 1.8/4) by 2.8 million viewers (to 10.3 million from 7.5 million). "Deal" was the #2 non-sports choice in the hour in adults 18-49, and the #1 non-sports choice among adults 25-54 (tie) and total viewers.

Sunday from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Grease: You're the One That I Want" (2.8/6 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall) lifted NBC 47 percent in 18-49 versus the network's performance in this slot on the same night last year (2.8 vs. 1.6), also against an NFL playoff game. "Grease" matched its week-ago rating, despite facing record competition from the Patriots-Colts AFC championship game.

Sunday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "The Apprentice 6" (2.8/6 in 18-49, 6.9 million viewers overall) matched the previous Sunday's 18-49 rating despite fierce competition from the Patriots-Colts championship game and an original episode of ABC's "Desperate Housewives." Facing this competition, "Apprentice" grew from half-hour to half-hour by 11 percent in 18-49 (to a 3.0/6 from a 2.7/5) and by 8 percent in overall viewership (to 7.129 million from 6.586 million).

At 10 p.m. ET, "Crossing Jordan" (2.4/5 in 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall) was up 9 percent in 18-49 and 14 percent in total viewers versus its week-ago performance, despite NFL playoff competition.
