The CW Improves Over UPN and The WB in Target Demos

"Top Model" Finale Wins Time Period in Adults and Women 18-34

"Gilmore Girls" Series Finale Scores Its Best Adults 18-34 Ratings on The CW

May 22, 2007 (Burbank, California) - Hot on the heels of its wildly successful Upfront presentation last week, The CW wrapped up its first season in fine fashion with last week's crowning of the new "America's Next Top Model" and the series finale of "Gilmore Girls."

The CW completed its inaugural season (through 5/20/07) ahead of both UPN and The WB in the target demos of adults 18-34 (1.5/4, 7% over UPN and WB) and women 18-34 (1.9/5, 6% over both UPN and WB). The CW was the only network to show year-to-year growth in these key demographics.

The CW's "America's Next Top Model" finished the season winning its time period among women 18-34. Next season, "Top Model," The CW's highest rated series in target demos, will remain Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. as the launch pad for the new drama "Gossip Girl."

The CW launched a new reality hit "Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll," which averaged 8 million viewers each week between the show's original and encore telecast. The next edition of "Pussycat Dolls Present" will make its debut next midseason.

"Friday Night Smackdown" led The CW to first on Friday night in key male demographics. "Smackdown" will remain on Friday nights next season.

"One Tree Hill" improved over last season by double-digit gains among adults 18-34 (19%) and women 18-34 (22%). "One Tree Hill" will return next midseason.

The third edition of "Beauty and The Geek" marked the highest-rated cycle of the series in women 18-34 and women 18-49. "Beauty and The Geek" will return next season to anchor The CW's Tuesday at 8:00p.m. in the fall, as the lead in to the network's new drama "Reaper."

Key Highlights for Week Ending May 20, 2007:

For the week ending 5/20/07, The CW outperformed both UPN and The WB versus the same week a year ago in the target demos of adults 18-34 (1.5/5, up 50% vs WB, 15% vs. UPN) and women 18-34 (2.0/6, up 54% vs WB, 18% vs. UPN), as well as adults 18-49 (1.3/4, up 44% vs WB, 18% vs. UPN) and women 18-49 (1.6/4, up 33% vs WB, 14% vs. UPN) and viewers (3.1mil, up 31% vs WB, 17% vs. UPN).
