BURBANK, Calif. - June 6, 2006 � Last night, the second-season premiere of "America's Got Talent" was the top-rated show on television in adults 18-49, total viewers and every other key measure, delivering the highest numbers for any summer-series debut so far this year, according to preliminary "fast affiliate-based" "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. Paced by "America's Got Talent," NBC won Tuesday night in adults 18-49, total viewers and all key measures.

From 9-11 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" (4.3 rating, 12 share in adults 18-49, 12.9 million viewers overall) scored the highest results for any summer series premiere so far this year, topping the 18-49 and overall viewer totals of such rival series as "So You Think You Can Dance," "Hell's Kitchen," "Pirate Master," "Ex-Wives Club" and "Next Best Thing," among others.

"America's Got Talent" dominated the competition by all key measures and scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period since January 2 and highest overall viewership in the slot since January 9. "Talent" paced NBC to a Tuesday night win in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures, marking the network's first Tuesday victory in 18-49 or total viewers since January 2.

Among total viewers, this was the highest scoring edition of "America's Got Talent" ever. In adults 18-49, this was the second-highest result ever for "Talent," behind only last summer's debut (a 4.6 rating in 18-49 and 12.4 million viewers overall on Wednesday, June 21, 2006).

At 8 p.m. ET last night, "Deal or No Deal" (2.7/9 in 18-49, 10.1 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, with NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period since January 9 and largest overall viewership since September 19, 2006.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for Tuesday night are: NBC, 3.8 rating, 11 share; Fox, 2.1/6; CBS 2.0/6; ABC, 1.4/4; CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, June 5 preliminary results are: NBC, 12.0 million; CBS, 7.7 million; Fox, 5.6 million; ABC, 3.7 million; and CW, 1.7 million.

In local-market late-night results last night, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (4.5 rating, 11 share in metered-market households) defeated CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" (3.0/7) and ABC's "Nightline" (2.6/6) and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (1.4/4). Jay has finished #1 versus regular late-night competition on 184 of 187 nights so far this broadcast year in the metered markets (including ties).

At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" (2.0/7) beat CBS' "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.5/5) and the second half of Kimmel. Conan has finished #1 versus regular competition on 177 of 187 nights so far this broadcast year in the metered markets (including ties).
