ABC's "The Bachelor" Tops NBC's "Journeyman" During the 10 O'clock Hour by 4.2 Million Viewers and 62% in Adults 18-49, Scoring Season Highs Among Key Men

Monday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

Featuring its lineup of "Dancing with the Stars," "Samantha Who?" and "The Bachelor," ABC qualified as Monday's most-watched TV network for the seventh week in a row, surpassing second-place CBS by 4.6 million viewers (16.4 million vs. 11.8 million). The Net also ranked a solid No. 1 on the evening among Adults 18-49 (4.4/11) and Adults 25-54 (5.4/12).

"Dancing with the Stars" (8:00-9:45 p.m.)

ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" marked its seventh straight week as Monday's most-watched TV show (20.5 million). In addition, the broad appealing unscripted dance competition also stood as the No. 1 TV show of the evening with Adults 18-49 (4.9/12-tie), Adults 25-54 (6.2/14-tie), Women 18-49 (7.2/16), and Women 25-54 (9.1/20).

"Samantha Who?" (9:45-10:15 p.m.)

The season's No. 1 rookie comedy in viewers and young adults, as well as the most-watched new show overall, ABC's "Samantha Who?" led its time period for the fourth straight week in Total Viewers (12.9 million), Women 18-49 (6.2/13) and Women 25-54 (7.0/15). The new ABC sitcom also ranked No. 1 in its slot with Adults 18-49 (4.3/10). The ABC freshman comedy built on its lead-in among Adults 18-34 (3.2/8 vs. 3.1/8).

"Samantha" was up week to week among Men 18-49 (2.4/6 vs. 2.3/6) and Teens 12-17 (1.4/5 vs. 1.2/4), hitting a series high in the latter demographic.

Trailing only "DWTS" on the night, "Samantha Who?" stood as Monday's second-highest-rated TV program with Women 18-49 and Women 25-54.

"The Bachelor" (10:15-11:00 p.m.)

Placing second in its time period to CBS veteran "C.S.I.: Miami," ABC's "The Bachelor" topped NBC's "Journeyman" during the 10 o'clock hour by 4.1 million viewers (9.2 million vs. 5.1 million) and by 62% in Adults 18-49 (3.4/9 vs. 2.1/5). The ABC unscripted series ranked No. 1 in its time slot among Women 18-34 (4.1/11) and Women 18-49 (5.1/13-tie).

"The Bachelor" achieved season highs with Men 18-34 (1.8/5) and Men 18-49 (1.8/5).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from just over 9% at the same point in 2006 up to nearly 21% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
