Monday
"Duel" (8:00-9:30 p.m.)
In its 90-minute time period, ABC's debut telecast of "Duel" defeated NBC's competing debut of "Clash of the Choirs" across each of the key men demos: Men 18-34 +29% (1.8/5 vs. 1.4/4), Men 18-49 +19% (1.9/5 vs. 1.6/4) and Men 25-54 +17% (2.1/ vs. 1.8/5). ABC's "Duel" aired as a 6-night event during the week, concluding with its season finale on Sunday from 8:00-9:00 p.m. (ET). On Sunday evening (12/23/07), a final winner will be awarded a jackpot in excess of $1.5 million.
Please Note: "Duel" was pre-empted in Chicago and Minneapolis for ABC affiliates' local coverage of ESPN's "Monday Night Football" game (Bears-Vikings). As a result, "Duel" aired after 1:00am in both markets.
* Versus the Net's performance in the time period on the same night last year (12/18/06), "Duel" improved the time period for ABC by 5% in Total Viewers (6.7 million vs. 6.4 million) and by double-digits across each of the men demos: M18-34 +50%, M18-49 +19% and M25-54 +24%.
"October Road" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's "October Road" tied NBC's "Journeyman" among Adults 18-49 (1.5/4) and beat the competing NBC drama by 8% among Adults 18-34 (1.3/4 vs. 1.2/4).
Tuesday
"Duel" (8:00-9:30 p.m.)
On its second night, ABC's "Duel" gained momentum, growing from its Monday debut by 7% in Total Viewers (7.2 million vs. 6.7 million), by 5% in Adults 18-34 (2.0/6 vs. 1.9/6), by 10% in Adults 18-49 (2.3/7 vs. 2.1/6) and by 8% in Adults 25-54 (2.7/7 vs. 2.5/6). From 8:00-9:00 p.m. opposite time period veteran CBS' "NCIS" and NBC's "Clash of the Choirs," "Duel" took second place in Adults 18-49 (2.4/7-tie) and ranked No. 1 in the hour with Adults 18-34 (2.0/6). In addition, the show held second place in its 90-minute time period among Men 18-34 (1.8/6) and Men 25-54 (2.4/7).
"Boston Legal" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
During the 10 o'clock hour ABC's "Boston Legal" defeated its drama competition, outperforming CBS' "Cane" by 8% in Total Viewers (7.7 million vs. 7.1 million) and by 17% in Adults 18-49 (2.1/6 vs. 1.8/5).
Wednesday
"Duel" (8:00-9:02 p.m.)
ABC's "Duel" earned second place in its time period among Total Viewers (7.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.2/7-tie), while taking first place in its slot among Adults 18-34 (1.8/6). In fact it was the second night in a row that "Duel" made ABC the No. 1 network during the 8 o'clock hour with Adults 18-34. In addition, Night 3 of "Duel" also won its hour among Adults 25-54 (2.7/8), Men 18-49 (2.0/6) and Men 25-54 (2.4/7). From start to finish, the gamer grew by 8% in Total Viewers (7.1 million to 7.7 million) and 15% in Adults 18-49 (2.0/6 to 2.3/7).
* Growing its Total Viewer count for the second night in a row, "Duel" attracted its biggest audience yet.
* "Duel" improved the time period for ABC, over the same night last year, by 3.1 million viewers and by 47% in Adults 18-49 (12/20/06 = 4.4 million & 1.5/5).
"Exxon-Mobil Presents a Holiday Celebration at Ford's Theatre" (10:03-11:00 p.m.)
Moving from July to December this year, ABC's "Holiday Celebration at Ford's Theatre" grew by 10% year to year in Adults 18-49 (1.1/3 vs. 1.0/4), achieving the annual special's highest rating in 4 years - best since 2003.
Friday
"Duel" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
Ranking as the most-watched program on Friday evening, Day 5 of ABC's "Duel" saw the gamer win its hour in both Total Viewers (6.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.7/6). From start to finish, "Duel" grew by 11% in Total Viewers (6.4 million to 7.1 million) and by 27% in Adults 18-49 (1.5/6 to 1.9/7).
Sunday
"Duel" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
Building on its lead-in in viewers and young adults, the season finale of ABC's "Duel" grew by 1.1 million viewers (5.6 million to 6.7 million) and by 29% in Adults 18-49 (1.4/4 to 1.8/5) from its first half-hour to its second half-hour. Ashlee Register ("The Nurse") was the final winner on "Duel" - taking home an amazing $1.795 million.
* "Duel" improved ABC's performance in the hour over the year ago night (12/24/06) by 2.1 million viewers (6.2 million vs. 4.1 million) and by 14% in Adults 18-49 (1.6/5 vs. 1.4/5).
"The Wonderful World of Disney: The Santa Clause 2" (9:00-11:00 p.m.)
An encore of ABC's "The Wonderful World of Disney: The Santa Clause 2" took second place from 9:00-11:00 p.m., behind only NBC's NFL-fueled "Sunday Night Football" in Total Viewers (8.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.7/8). The "Wonderful World of Disney: The Santa Clause 2" ranked No. 1 during its 2-hour time period across each of the key women demographics [Women 18-34 (2.3/8 - tied), Women 18-49 (3.3/9) and Women 25-54 (3.8/10)] and Teens 12-17 (2.0/7).
