Thursday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.) ABC earned second place on Thursday in Total Viewers (10.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.7/10). The Network ranked No. 1 on the evening among Adults 18-34 (3.3/10) and key Women: W18-49 (5.4/13) and W18-34 (5.0/14). In fact it was the Net's 4th week in a row to lead the night with Women 18-34.

Defeating its nearest competition in the hour by 33% in Women 18-34 (3.6/11 vs. 2.7/8 CBS' "Survivor: Gabon"), "Betty" held the No. 1 position in its time period for the 4th consecutive week among young women.

"Grey's Anatomy" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Growing week to week and re-emerging as Thursday's No. 1 TV program in Adults 18-49, ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" (5.8/14) defeated CBS' "C.S.I." in the 9 o'clock hour by 14% in the key young adult sales demo (5.1/13) and NBC's "Office"/"SNL Weekend Update" combo by 41% (4.1/10). "Grey's" was up week to week by 4% in Adults 18-49 (5.8/14 vs. 5.6/13) and by 6% in Adults 18-49 (5.6/16 vs. 5.3/14).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 28% currently, from 20% at the same point in 2007. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
