truTV Scores Network Records in Delivery of Key Demos During First Year of New Branding

December 10, 2008

As it nears the end of its first year as truTV, the network is celebrating a number of victories, including best-ever deliveries of male viewers in the network's 17-year history and a significant drop in the network's median age, according to year-to-date data from Nielsen Media Research. The network's success over the past year included the launches of several original series that garnered time-period growth for the network in delivery of adults and men 18-49.

"Our first year out of the gate with new branding has been extraordinary, with all of the elements coming together to position truTV as an exciting new voice in the cable world," said Marc Juris, executive vice president and general manager for truTV. "Next year, we look forward to continuing to build and expand the truTV brand and the network's signature actuality' programming."

2008 Ratings Highlights for truTV:

truTV formerly known as Court TV is on track to score its best year ever in primetime delivery of men 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54, as well as all male viewers. The network also is within striking distance to score its best year ever in primetime delivery of adults 18-49.

truTV's median age has dropped four years, from 52 to 48, when comparing the fourth quarter of 2007 (prior to rebranding) to the third quarter and fourth-quarter-to-date of 2008.

truTV's new branding has led to a greater composition of male viewers, with men making up 54% of the network's primetime audience, a rise from 49% in 2007.

Several new series on truTV have delivered strong growth among key adult and male demos for their time periods.

BLACK GOLD delivered 47% growth among adults 18-49 and 138% growth among men 18-49 when compared to the same timeslot a year ago.

THE SMOKING GUN PRESENTS garnered 31% time-period growth among adults 18-49 and 47% growth among men 18-49.
