'DATELINE NBC' DELIVERS THE HIGHEST FRIDAY NON-SPORTS RESULTS ON ANY MAJOR NETWORK IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. � September 1, 2009 � NBC has tied for the weeklong win in adults 18-49 for the week of August 24-30, averaging a 1.8 rating, 6 share in 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers overall, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC's first-place week was paced by "NBC Sunday Night Football" and "America's Got Talent," and which account for three of the top four primetime programs on broadcast television last week in adults 18-49 and the top three shows in total viewers. Football ranked #2 for the week in 18-49 with the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of "Talent" finishing #3 and 4. In total viewers, the Tuesday and Wednesday "Talent" telecasts were #1 and #2, with Sunday football ranking #3.

This marks the 10th week in a row that "America's Got Talent" has been the top non-sports primetime telecast on the major networks in total viewers.

"NBC Sunday Night Football" ranked #1 for the week in adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demographics.

Primetime averages for the week of August 24-30 in adults 18-49 were NBC and CBS (1.8/6), Fox (1.7/5), Univision (1.3/4), ABC (1.2/4), Telemundo and CW (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (6.6 million), NBC (6.4 million), Fox (4.8 million), ABC (3.8 million), Univision (3.2 million), CW (1.3 million) and Telemundo (1.0 million).

NBC highlights for the week of August 24-30:

* On Tuesday, "America's Got Talent" won its two-hour time period in all key measures � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers. "Talent" was the #1 program on television Tuesday night in total viewers.

* In its final hour on Tuesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" beat the ABC-CBS competition combined in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key ratings categories.

* On Wednesday, the "America's Got Talent" results show was the #1 program of the night in both 18-49 and total viewers. Week-to-week, the Wednesday edition of "Talent" gained 15 percent in 18-49 rating and 5 percent in total viewers.

* Wednesday's "Talent" results show dominated its time period in all key measures, topping its closest competitors in the slot by 58 percent in adults 18-49 and 92 percent or more than 5.4 million persons in total viewers.

* Also on Wednesday, an "America's Got Talent" recap show jumped 20 percent in 18-49 rating versus the prior week and deliver NBC's top total-viewer average in the slot in six months.

* Additionally on Wednesday, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: SVU" won its hour over all broadcast and cable competition in adults 18-49.

* NBC ranked #1 in primetime Wednesday night, topping all broadcast and cable competition in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

* On Thursday, "The Office" scored the #1 non-sports rating in its time period in 18-49, with the show's highest result of the summer to date.

* Also on Thursday, "30 Rock" matched its summer highs in both the 8 p.m. ET and 9:30 half-hours, while "Parks and Recreation" delivered series-high numbers for an encore in both 18-49 and total viewers.

* Thursday's "Law & Order" encore locked up NBC's best 18-49 rating in the time period in two months.

* On Friday, "Southland" captured its top 18-49 and total-viewer numbers among the show's five Friday telecasts to date.

* Also on Friday, a two-hour "Dateline" reported the top results in 18-49 and total viewers for any Friday non-sports telecast on any major network over the past two months.

* On Sunday, NBC Sports' coverage of the Chicago Bears-Denver Broncos "Sunday Night Football" preseason game won the night with NBC's top Sunday averages since the night of the Super Bowl. It was the top-scoring NFL preseason telecast in three years.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of August 24-30:

On Monday, August 24 at 8 p.m. ET, "Great American Road Trip" (1.2 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall) tied for #2 among the broadcast networks in adults 25-54 and ranked #2 outright in the time period in men 25-54. Week-to-week "Road Trip" gained 8 percent in total viewers (4.5 million vs. 4.1 million), to attract its biggest overall audience in three weeks.

At 9 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" delivered a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 4.3 million viewers overall.

Monday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the broadcast networks in the hour in most key ratings measures and tied for #1 among women 18-34 and women 25-54.

On Tuesday, August 25 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "America's Got Talent" averaged a 1.5/5 in 18-49 and 5.9 million viewers overall. The "Talent" encore ranked #2 in the time period in adults and women 18-34.

Tuesday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" (3.1/9 in adults 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall) won its two-hour time period in all key ratings categories � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49, 25-54 and total viewers. "Talent" was the #1 program of the night in total viewers.

For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" beat the ABC-CBS competition combined in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key ratings categories.

NBC ranked #1 on Tuesday night in adults 25-54 and total viewers.

On Wednesday, August 26 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an "America's Got Talent" recap episode (1.8/6 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period since June 3 and biggest overall audience in the slot in six months (since February 25). Week-to-week, the "Talent" recap jumped 20 percent in 18-49 rating (1.8/6 vs. 1.5/5).

The "America's Got Talent" recap ranked #2 among the major networks in the hour in all key ratings categories, behind only ABC's "Wipeout." From its first half-hour to its second, the "Talent" recap increased 19 percent in adult 18-49 rating (to a 1.9 from a 1.6) and 13 percent in total viewers (to 7.0 million from 6.2 million).

Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" (3.0/8 in 18-49, 11.2 million viewers overall) was the #1 show of the night in adults 18-49 and total viewers. The "Talent" results show won the 9-10 p.m. hour by a dominant 58 percent margin in adults 18-49 (3.0 vs. a 1.9 for ABC's premiere of "Crash Course") and by 92 percent or more than 5.4 million persons in total viewers (11.2 million vs. 5.7 million for CBS's "Criminal Minds" encore in second place).

Week-to-week, the Wednesday edition of "America's Got Talent" gained 15 percent in 18-49 rating (3.0/8 vs. 2.6/7) and 5 percent in total viewers (11.2 million vs. 10.7 million).

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) won the time period over all broadcast and cable competition in adults 18-49 and ranked #1 or tied for #1 among the major networks in all other key demographics. Week-to-week, "SVU" was up 38 percent in 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.3) and 10 percent in total viewers (6.0 million vs. 5.5 million), to lock up NBC's top results in the time period in both measures in two months (since June 24).

NBC ranked #1 in primetime Wednesday night, topping all broadcast and cable competition in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

On Thursday, August 27 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "30 Rock" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall) matched its best 18-49 rating in the slot this summer.

At 8:30 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Parks and Recreation" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall) retained 92 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "30 Rock." "Parks and Recreation" scored series-high results for an encore telecast in 18-49 and total viewers. Last Thursday's telecast was up versus the previous week by 22 percent in 18-49 rating (1.1 vs. 0.9) and 20 percent in total viewers (2.8 million vs. 2.4 million).

At 9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Office" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) generated the time period's #1 non-sports rating on the major networks in adults 18-49, ahead of rebroadcasts of CBS's "CSI" and ABC's "Grey's Anatomy." "The Office" was also the time period's #1 non-sports telecast among the major networks in adults, men and women 18-34 and men 18-49. "The Office" delivered its highest results of the summer to date in 18-49 and total viewers. Versus the prior week, "The Office" was up 29 percent in 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.4) and up 20 percent in total viewers (4.0 million vs. 3.3 million).

From 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "30 Rock" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall) matched the show's highest 18-49 rating of the summer. "30 Rock" was the half-hour's #1 non-sports program on the major networks in men 18-34.

From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) captured NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period in two months (since June 25). For the hour, "Law & Order" was the #2 non-sports choice among the broadcast networks in all key ratings categories.

On Friday, August 28 from 8-9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Southland" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall) captured the show's top 18-49 and total-viewer Nielsens among the five Friday "Southland" telecasts to date.

From 9-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall) reported the #1 non-sports rating on the major networks for the night in 18-49 and the biggest overall audience for the night among all major-network programs. "Dateline" delivered the highest results for any Friday non-sports telecast on any major network in two months (since June 26) in 18-49 and total viewers. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" grew by 58 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.9/6 from a 1.2/7) and by 32 percent or 1.8 million persons in total viewers (to 7.3 million from 5.5 million).

This marks the ninth Friday in 11 weeks that "Dateline NBC" has reported the top non-sports rating for any major network in 18-49 and the fifth week in a row that it was Friday's top non-sports program on the major networks in total viewers.

On Saturday, August 29 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" averaged a 0.5/2 in 18-49 and 2.5 million viewers overall.

At 9 p.m. ET, "The 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania" delivered a 0.7/3 in 18-49 and 2.2 million viewers overall. The "Wrestlemania" special built on its 18-49 lead-in by 40 percent.

At 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) apprehended NBC's best 18-49 and total-viewer results in the time period since July 25. "SVU" finished #1 among the broadcast networks in the hour in all key adult-female demos and adults 18-34 (tied with CBS's NFL coverage).

On Sunday August 30, from 7-8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" reported a 1.1/4 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "Dateline" increased its 18-49 rating by 20 percent (to a 1.2 from a 1.0).

From 8-11:18 p.m. ET, NBC Sports' coverage of the Chicago Bears-Denver Broncos "Sunday Night Football" preseason game (3.5/10 in 18-49, 10.4 million viewers overall) scored the highest 18-49 and total-viewer results for an NFL preseason game on any network in three years, since NBC's August 6, 2006 Raiders-Eagles telecast (3.9/11 in 18-49, 10.6 million viewers overall). Sunday's game was the #1 telecast of the night in 18-49 and total viewers and dominated its time period.

From 7-11 p.m. ET, NBC averaged a 3.0/9 in 18-49 and 9.1 million viewers overall, representing the network's highest Sunday nightlong results in those two categories since February 1, the night of the Super Bowl. NBC is #1 for the night in adults 18-49, total viewers and nearly all other key categories.
