Nickelodeon Nabs Its Most-Watched Third Quarter Ever, Tops Basic Cable with Kids and Total Viewers

iCarly Scores Quarter's Most-Watched Telecast on All TV with Kids 2-11 and K6-11; SpongeBob SquarePants is Top Animated Series on All TV with Kids and on Basic Cable with Total Viewers

TeenNick, Nicktoons and Nick Jr. Boast Best Quarterly Performance Ever

NEW YORK - Sept. 28, 2010 - Nickelodeon nabbed its best third quarter performance ever with total viewers (P2+) in the network's history and scored its 62nd straight quarter as the top basic cable network with kids 2-11 and total viewers - the longest run of its kind. Nick also claims basic cable's top spot in total day with kids 2-11 and persons 2+ for 3Q10. According to Nielsen Media Research (6/28/10-9/26/10), Nickelodeon averaged 2.3 million total viewers; a 3.5/1.2 million K2-11; a 3.4/733,000 K6-11; and 2.6/548,000 T9-14 for the quarter.

In 3Q10 Nickelodeon hit series iCarly scored with "iGot a Hot Room" (Friday, July 30, at 8 p.m. ET/PT), which ranks as the quarter's most-watched telecast on broadcast and cable among K2-11 and K6-11 and delivered 9.1 million total viewers. Nick also scored with the premiere of Fred: The Movie (Saturday, September 18, 8 p.m. ET/PT), based on online sensation "Fred Figglehorn." The two-hour TV movie drew 7.6 million total viewers, ranked as basic cable's number-one entertainment telecast and was the top telecast for the week (9/13/10-9/19/10) with K2-11, K6-11 and T9-14 on all TV.

Nick ended the quarter on a high note, capping an evening of premieres (Saturday, September 25 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. ET/PT) with the top three telecasts on all TV among K6-11 (#1 iCarly, #2 Big Time Rush and #3 Victorious) and the top two telecasts among T9-14 (#1 iCarly and #2 Big Time Rush) for the week (9/20/10-9/26/10).

SpongeBob SquarePants and The Penguins of Madagascar also helped net Nick its quarterly win. SpongeBob SquarePants - which year to date ranks as the number-one animated series with K2-11 and K6-11 on all television - is the top animated series with K2-11, K6-11 on all TV, and is basic cable's top animated series with total viewers. The Penguins of Madagascar closes the quarter as the number-two animated series with K2-11 on all TV and is basic cable's number-two animated series with total viewers, behind only SpongeBob SquarePants.

Nickelodeon's digital networks Nicktoons, TeenNick and Nick Jr. closed the quarter with their best quarterly performances among total viewers and their core demos.

Nicktoons continues gaining momentum in third quarter, netting its highest-rated and most-watched quarterly performance ever, and posting huge double- and triple-digit increases with kids 6-11 (+40%), boys 6-11 (+67%), tweens 9-14 (+100%) and boys 9-14 (+60%). Nicktoons - currently the fastest growing kids net - also posted its highest-rated and most-watched 3Q10 with total viewers (+48%) and bested its closest competitor Disney XD with key demos, K6-11 (+17%), B6-11 (+25%), B9-14 (+14%) and T9-14 (+20%).

TeenNick posted its best quarter ever with total viewers (+27%) and its core demographic of teens 12-17 (+25%). TeenNick's performance was bolstered by the Degrassi summer television event, which averaged 975,000 total viewers over its six-week run (7/19/10 - 8/27/10), posting huge triple-digit gains for the network with key demos, T12-17 (+675%) and P2+ (+633%).

Nick Jr. continues to set records in 2010 also netting its highest-rated and most-watched quarter ever with its preschool audience (2.9/309,000, +26%) and total viewers (579,000, +28%).

Nick at Nite finished 3Q10 as the top cable network among W18-49 (0.7/412,000). Nick at Nite's third quarter was bolstered by the premiere of My Wife and Kids (Monday, August 30, 8 p.m. ET/PT), which posted double-digit gains with A18-49 (+12%) and W18-49 (+25%).
