Disney Channel Squeezes Sweet Success with "Lemonade Mouth"

Disney Channel Original Movie "Lemonade Mouth" was ripe for the picking Friday night, ranking as the No. 1 TV Telecast among Kids 6-11 (2.3 million/9.4 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (2.1 million/8.5 rating), and cable's No. 1 original movie of 2011 among Total Viewers (5.7 million). Along with its all-new "Good Luck Charlie" lead-in, Disney Channel held Friday's Top 7 TV telecasts in Kids 6-11, the Top 10 TV telecasts among Tweens 9-14, and cable's Top 2 telecasts among Total Viewers.
The "Lemonade Mouth" soundtrack, released by Walt Disney Records on April 12, fast tracked its way to No. 1 on the iTunes Soundtrack chart and is the No. 4 Album overall. Moreover, hit songs "Somebody," "Determinate" and "Don't Ya Wish U Were Us" rank in the Radio Disney Top 30.
· 2011 to date, Disney Channel owns the Top 2 TV movies among Tweens 9-14 with "The Suite Life Movie" (2.2 million/8.8 rating) and "Lemonade Mouth" (2.1 million/8.5 rating).
· "Lemonade Mouth" dominated its time period, outperforming runner-up Nickelodeon/Nick-at-Nite by 254% in Kids 6-11 (2.3 million vs. 648,000) and by 263% in Tweens 9-14 (2.08 million vs. 577,000), and nearly doubling the No. 2 cable network, SyFy, in Total Viewers (90% - 5.7 million vs. 3.0 million).
· Gaining viewers throughout its 2-hour telecast, "Lemonade Mouth" grew by 22% in Total Viewers (4.9 million to 6.0 million), by 32% in Kids 6-11 (1.9 million to 2.5 million) and by 29% in Tweens 9-14 (1.7 million to 2.2 million) start to finish.
· "Lemonade Mouth" exceeded year-ago time period levels by huge double-digit percent margins across all demos, including by 97% in Total Viewers (5.7 million vs. 2.9 million), by 64% in Kids 6-11 (2.3 million vs. 1.4 million) and by 91% in Tweens 9-14 (2.1 million vs. 1.1 million).
"Lemonade Mouth" stars Bridgit Mendler (of Disney Channel's "Good Luck Charlie"), Adam Hicks (Disney XD's "Zeke and Luther"), Hayley Kiyoko ("Wizards of Waverly Place"), Naomi Scott (Disney Channel UK's "Life Bites" and "Terra Nova"), Blake Michael, Nick Roux ("The Suite Life on Deck"), Chris Brochu ("Soul Surfer"), Tisha Campbell-Martin ("My Wife and Kids") and Christopher McDonald ("Boardwalk Empire").
Based on the book Lemonade Mouth by Mark Peter Hughes, the script was written by April Blair, directed by award-winning Patricia Riggen ("La Misma Luna" aka "Under the Same Moon"), executive-produced by Debra Martin Chase ("The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," Disney Channel's "The Cheetah Girls" movies), co-produced by Gaylyn Fraiche ("Just Wright," "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2") and choreographed by Chris Scott ("So You Think You Can Dance").
