'THE VOICE' IS THE #1 SHOW OF THE NIGHT IN ADULTS 18-49, WINNING ITS TWO-HOUR TIME PERIOD IN ALL KEY DEMOGRAPHICS
NBC WINS TUESDAY NIGHT IN ADULTS 18-49 AND OTHER KEY DEMOGRAPHICS WITH ITS TOP TUESDAY AVERAGES OF THE SEASON WITH ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMMING
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - April 27, 2011 - Last night, the premiere of NBC's "The Voice" delivered the highest 18-49 rating for a series premiere on a major broadcast network since "Undercover Boss" debuted after the Super Bowl in February 2010, according to "fast affiliate-based" "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.
Last night from 9-11 p.m. ET, the premiere of "The Voice" (5.1 rating, 13 share in adults 18-49, 11.8 million viewers overall) was the #1 show of the night in adults 18-49. That 5.1 rating in adults 18-49 is the top score for any series premiere on a major broadcast network since CBS's "Undercover Boss" debuted following Super Bowl XLIV on February 7, 2010.
"The Voice" won its two-hour time period in all key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49, 25-54, as well as teens 12-17. In the key demographic of adults 18-49, "The Voice" prevailed in head-to-head competition over Fox's "Glee" (4.6 vs. a 3.4 for "Glee" from 9-9:30 p.m. ET) and ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" (4.9 vs. a 3.5 for "Dancing" from 9-10 p.m.), pending updates.
Versus NBC's season average for the time period, "The Voice" last night was up 89 percent in adults 18-49 (with a 5.1 rating vs. a 2.7, live plus same day) and 60 percent in total viewers (11.765 million vs. 7.347 million).
Last night from 8-9 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser: Couples" (2.7/8 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) weighed in with its heftiest results in the 8-9 p.m. hour in five weeks (since March 22). "Biggest Loser" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults, men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34. From its first half-hour to its second, "Loser" gained 21 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.9 from a 2.4) and 13 percent in total viewers (7.9 million vs. 7.1 million).
NBC ranked #1 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics, with the network's highest Tuesday averages of the season with entertainment programming in adults 18-49 (4.3/11), total viewers (10.3 million) and other key measures.
Preliminary 18-49 averages for Tuesday night are: NBC, 4.3/11; Fox, 3.0/8; ABC, 2.7/7; CBS, 1.9/5; CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, April 26 preliminary results are: ABC, 14.3 million; NBC, 10.3 million; CBS, 9.8 million; Fox, 7.6 million; CW, 1.3 million.
