"The Closer" Ranks as Basic Cable's #1 Scripted Program for the Week
Turner spins the numbers for the week of July 11-17.

Last week, TNT's original series scored strong numbers across the board, led by The Closer, which ranked as basic cable's #1 scripted program for the week, with 8.7 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery (7.2 million Live + Same Day). The season premiere of Rizzoli & Isles was second for the week among scripted programs, with 8 million viewers in Live + 3 (6.4 million L+SD).

Both of TNT's Sunday night series scored their biggest Live + Same Day audiences since their original launches. Falling Skies captured 4.3 million viewers, its best Live + Same Day performance since its June 19 premiere and up 9% over last week's episode. Key adult demos marked their third consecutive week of growth, with 1.8 million adults 18-49 and 2.1 million adults 25-54 each up 1% over last week.

Sunday night's episode of Leverage, guest starring Danny Glover, scored 4.1 million viewers, the biggest Live + Same Day audience since its December 2008 series premiere. The episode grew 25% over the prior week and 19% over the June 26 season premiere. Among key adult demos, Leverage averaged a season-best 1.5 million adults 18-49 and 1.8 million adults 25-54.

TNT's original series The Closer, Rizzoli & Isles and Falling Skies accounted for three of basic cable's Top 5 drama telecasts for the week among adults 25-54. Along with Leverage, they account for four of basic cable's Top 10 drama telecasts for the week among adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

On Tuesday night, TNT's Memphis Beat delivered a powerful episode that drew 3.8 million viewers in Live + 3 (2.9 million Live + Same Day), with more than 1 million adults 18-49 (779,000 L+SD) and 1.2 million adults 25-54 (938,000 L+SD). HawthoRNe followed with a strong 3.1 million viewers in Live + 3 (2.4 million L+SD), with 1.2 million adults 18-49 (889,000 L+SD) and 1.3 million adults 25-54 (1 million L+SD). And on Wednesday night, TNT's hit legal drama Franklin & Bash brought 3.5 million viewers to the stand in Live + 3 (2.5 million L+SD), with 1.5 million adults 18-49 (1 million L+SD) and 1.5 million adults 25-54 (1 million L+SD).

According to the latest time-shifted viewing for TNT's summer originals, the July 3 episode of Falling Skies climbed to an extraordinary 6.8 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery, up 67% over Live + Same Day. The same night's episode of the hit caper series Leverage rose to more than 4.4 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery (+79% over Live + Same Day), while the episode's delivery of key adult demos more than doubled. Franklin & Bash grew its June 29 audience to 3.7 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery (+46% vs. L+SD). The June 28 episode of Memphis Beat stirred up 4.2 million viewers (+45% vs. L+SD), while the same night's episode of HawthoRNe registered 3.4 million viewers (+41% vs. L+SD).

TNT's NASCAR Summer Series coverage, which ended Sunday, drew 5,125,000 viewers overall, up 3% over last year (4,990,000). The six races also grew 3% in household rating (3.1 vs. 3.0) and household delivery (3,615,000 vs. 3,495,000), compared to last year.

NASCAR.com's TNT RaceBuddy complemented the television coverage with an average of 886,000 weekly video streams during the six-race NASCAR Summer Series. Overall, video streams on RaceBuddy were up 143% over last year and delivered a total of 5,319,000 video streams this year. RaceBuddy scored record-breaking viewership during TNT's first race of the 2011 Summer Series in Pocono, with 1,146,000 video streams. RaceBuddy also enjoyed the second-highest (Daytona - 1,020,000) and third-highest (Kentucky - 928,000) video stream totals in its history during this year's Summer Series.

Adult Swim

A new episode of Adult Swim's original series Childrens Hospital (Thursday, 12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period on basic cable among adults & men 18-34, 18-49 and 18-24.

Compared to the same time period last year, Adult Swim's Sunday night comedy programming line-up - Family Guy (10:30 & 11 p.m.), Metalocalypse (12 a.m.), Superjail (12:30 a.m.) and Assy McGee (12:45 a.m.) - attracted double and triple-digit delivery gains among adults 18-24, ranging between 19% and 135% across the night.

For the third week this month, Adult Swim again ranked #1 for Total Day Delivery of adults 18-34 and 18-49, and men 18-34 and 18-49, earning solid gains across the board vs. the 2010 time period - adults 18-34 delivery (507,000) grew by 7%, adults 18-49 (736,000) by 9%, men 18-34 (305,000) by 7% and men 18-49 (432,000) by 8%. Adult Swim programming accounted for 16 of the top 50 telecasts of the week on basic cable among adults 18-34, and 26 of the top 50 among men 18-34, both more than any other network.

Cartoon Network

Across the third week of July 2011, Cartoon Network's Early Evening performance (Mon-Sun, 7-9 p.m.) earned significant double-digit growth among targeted kids 6-11 - average delivery (579,000) up 11% and ratings (2.3) up 10% - compared to the same time period last year. Additionally, early evening average delivery of kids 2-11 (835,000) increased by 4%, and kids 9-14 (374,000) increased by 2%.

Continuing its ratings streak, Cartoon Network's Monday night (7-9 p.m.) remained TV's #1 destination for boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14. The season 3 premiere of Adventure Time (8 p.m.) also ranked #1 in its time period among all kids and boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14, earning double-digit growth ranging between 13% and 40%. Similarly, Regular Show (8:15 p.m.) ranked #1 on Monday night among kids 2-11 and 9-14, and all boy demos - again, growth ranged between 11% and 38%.

Cartoon Network furthermore claimed Tuesday night (7-9 p.m.) as the #1 television network for boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14, charting double and triple-digit delivery gains across kids and boys demos - kids 6-11 (752,000) improved by 117%, kids 2-11 (1,100,000) by 79%, kids 9-14 (492,000) by 74%, boys 6-11 (556,000) by 123%, boys 2-11 (750,000) by 78% and boys 9-14 (370,000) by 92%. All programs in the early evening block earned significant gains, ranging between 17% and 182%, vs. the same time period last year.

truTV

truTV's newest series, Vegas Strip, premiered Sunday night with 1.4 million viewers; 605,000 adults 18-49; and 387,000 men 18-49. Those figures make Vegas Strip truTV's top Sunday series launch since the network's January 2008 rebrand. The show also scored solid growth over the same time period last year.

truTV's big hit Hardcore Pawn scored 1.4 million viewers Tuesday at 9:30 p.m., ranking among basic cable's Top 5 programs in its timeslot among men 18-49 and delivering double-digit growth across the board.

Operation Repo drew more than 1.5 million viewers Wednesday at 9 p.m., landing among basic cable's Top 5 programs for its timeslot among men 18-49. The Thursday 9 p.m. episode of World's Dumbest� brought in more than 1.3 million and ranked among basic cable's Top 5 programs in its timeslot with key adult and male demos. Both shows landed double-digit time-period growth, as well.

TBS

CONAN was off last week, but the Emmy�-nominated late-night series continued to pull in strong numbers through time-shifted viewing. In Live + 7 delivery for episodes airing the week of June 27, CONAN grew its audience to 1.1 million viewers (+10% over the prior week's episode), with 544,000 adults 18-34 (+11%) and 786,000 adults 18-49 (+11%).
