"Monday Night Football" Helps ESPN Win the Night in All Key Male and Adult Demos

Last night's ESPN Monday Night Football telecast - a 34-3 New England Patriots victory over the Kansas City Chiefs - helped ESPN win the night among all networks - broadcast or cable - in all key male and adult demos. The telecast averaged:

· 9.1 household coverage rating (7.8 U.S. rating)

· 8,984,000 households

· 12,344,000 viewers

Notes:

· ESPN won the night among all networks in all the key male and adult demos; finished second in households

· MNF led all programs Monday night in the delivery of all key male demos and adults 18-34; finished second in adults 18-49 and 25-54

Local market ratings:

· Kansas City: 12.8 rating on ESPN and a 17.0 rating on KMBC-ABC, for a combined 29.8 rating

· Boston: 11.0 rating on ESPN and a 21.2 rating on WCVB-ABC, for a combined 32.2 rating

MNF season averages (thru 11 weeks/12 games):

· 9.7 household coverage rating (8.4 U.S. rating)

· 9,623,000 households

· 13,194,000 viewers

ESPN Digital Platforms

On Sunday and Monday, NFL content across ESPN digital platforms - including ESPN.com, ESPN Fantasy, the ESPN mobile Web, ScoreCenter and WatchESPN - logged an average minute audience of more than 162,000 users, a 14 percent increase compared to the same two days last season (source: Adobe/Omniture). ESPN.com logged an average minute audience of 103,000 users to the NFL section alone, up six percent from last year, while NFL content on ESPN Mobile Applications generated an average minute audience of nearly 59,000 users, a 29 percent gain.

NEXT WEEK ON MNF

Next week, ESPN's MNF features a matchup of NFC playoff hopefuls when Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints host Eli Manning and the New York Giants at the Superdome on Monday, November 21, at 8:30 p.m. The game will be a homecoming for Manning, who grew up in New Orleans and was a fan of the Saints when his father, Archie, played quarterback for the franchise in the 1970s.
