"The Big Bang Theory" Also Beats "Idol" in Viewers and Adults 18-34

"Rob" Up in Viewers and Matches Last Week's Adult 18-49 Rating

THE BIG BANG THEORY topped "American Idol" in adults 18-49 for the second consecutive week in the common half-hour and also placed first in viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Thursday, Jan. 26.

THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in households (9.6/15), viewers (15.96m), adults 25-54 (6.8/17), adults 18-49 (5.4/15) and adults 18-34 (4.0/13). THE BIG BANG THEORY matched Thursday-high adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 ratings and matched second-best Thursday adults 25-54 ratings.

In the common 8:00-8:30 half-hour, THE BIG BANG THEORY topped "American Idol" in viewers (15.96m vs. 15.46m, +3%), adults 18-49 (5.4/15 vs. 4.8/14, +13%), adults 25-54 (6.8/17 vs. 5.9/15, +15%) and adults 18-34 (4.0/13 vs. 3.4/11, +18%).

ROB was second in households (6.8/10), viewers (11.58m), adults 25-54 (4.6/11) and adults 18-49 (3.5/09). Compared to last week, ROB was even in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and added +170,000 viewers (from 11.41m, +1%).

Updated Thursday ratings: THE BIG BANG THEORY was adjusted upward in viewers and key demos. In adults 18-49, BBT gained +0.1 to its best-ever Thursday 5.5 rating. In adults 18-34, BBT was also adjusted up +0.1 to a Thursday-high of 4.1. Last night's 16.13 million viewers matches its largest-ever Thursday audience, while its 7.0 in adults 25-54 matches its highest Thursday rating in that demo.

THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in households (9.7/15), viewers (16.13m), adults 25-54 (7.0/18), adults 18-49 (5.5/16) and adults 18-34 (4.1/13). THE BIG BANG THEORY posted Thursday-high adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 ratings, matched Thursday-best viewer and adults 25-54 ratings.

In the common 8:00-8:30 half-hour, THE BIG BANG THEORY topped "American Idol" in viewers (16.13m vs. 15.56m, +4%), adults 18-49 (5.5/16 vs. 4.9/14, +12%), adults 25-54 (7.0/18 vs. 6.0/15, +17%) and adults 18-34 (4.1/13 vs. 3.4/11, +18%).

ROB was second in households (6.8/10), viewers (11.50m), adults 25-54 (4.6/11) and adults 18-49 (3.5/09). Compared to last week, ROB was even in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and added +90,000 viewers (from 11.41m).
