SUNDAY'S POST-SUPER BOWL SPECIAL SETS SERIES RECORDS FOR 'LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON'

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - February 9, 2012 - "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" has topped the ABC and CBS time-period competition in late-night ratings for the week of January 30-February 3, out-delivering CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" in adults 18-49 and total viewers during the week of Letterman's Wednesday 30th anniversary telecast.

At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" delivered six-week highs in viewers 18-49 and total viewers and his second biggest audiences of the season during a week that included pre-Super Bowl telecasts from Indianapolis on Wednesday through Friday nights. Additionally, Jimmy set series records with his post-Super Bowl special Sunday night.

The Sunday program, which aired from 11:56 p.m.-12:56 a.m. ET (following local news in the majority of the country) averaged a 2.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 6.1 million viewers overall. The post-Super Bowl special quintupled the "Late Night" season average in 18-49 (0.5, "live plus same day") and was up 251 percent versus the show's season average in total viewers (1.734 million persons, "live plus same day"). Versus the prior records for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," Sunday's edition was up 32 percent in 18-49 rating (2.5 vs. 1.9 on January 22, 2010) and up 53 percent in total viewers (6.087 million vs. 3.967 million on that same date). Note that the special Sunday telecast is not included in "Late Night" weekly or season averages.

For the week of January 30-February 3, "Tonight" delivered a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Show" for the seventh week in a row and Jimmy Fallon attracted a bigger 18-49 audience than CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" for a 10th week in a row. On Wednesday, the night of the 30th anniversary telecast of "Late Show," "Tonight" topped "Late Show" by 6 percent in 18-49 viewers (1.162 million vs. 1.100 million) and 17 percent in total viewers (3.821 million vs. 3.263 million).

The Wednesday-through-Friday editions of "Late Night" from Indianapolis averaged a 0.7 rating in adults 18-49, up from a combined 0.5 for Monday and Tuesday that week, and up from a 0.6 average for "Late Night" season to date. For the Monday-through-Friday week, "Late Night" generated its biggest 18-49 audience (769,000) and biggest overall audience (1.950 million) since the week of December 19-23 and second-biggest of the season.

At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" also delivered its biggest overall audience (1.005 million) in the six weeks since December 19-23.

Through the first 20 weeks of the season, "Tonight" has increased its total-viewer margin over "Late Show" to 13 percent (3.743 million vs. 3.302 million), up from the year-ago season-to-date advantage of 8 percent. Jimmy Fallon has established a total-viewer lead over "Late Late Show" this season of 17 percent (1.811 million vs. 1.550 million), up from last year's advantage of 0.1 percent. Jimmy has also increased his season-to-date lead over "Late Late Show" in adults 18-34, to 47 percent (295,000 vs. 201,000) up from last year's 31 percent, and in adults 25-54, up to 11 percent (889,000 vs. 798,000) up from 3 percent at this point last season.
