ABC is #1 on Sunday in Adults 18-49, beating CBS with "Big Brother"

Early info on ABC's Sunday, ahead of the regular press release.

ABC ranked #1 on Sunday Night among Adults 18-49, beating CBS (with the Sunday premiere of Big Brother 14) by 27% and NBC (with a 2-hour Dateline) by 56%. For the 2nd week in a row, ABC matched its strongest Sunday this summer with regular programming on the night.

ABC's replay America's Funniest Home Videos finished #1 in the 7 o'clock hour in Adults 18-49, beating originals of CBS' 60 Minutes by 20% and NBC's Dateline. In addition, the broad-appealing ABC series also won its time period across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54) and Kids 2-11.

· Launching over the prior week's repeat by 16% in Total Viewers and 20% with Adults 18-49, ABC's AFHV delivered its best performance this summer to date. In addition, the veteran ABC video-clip show was up over its year-ago telecast by 4% and 9% with viewers and young adults, respectively.

Building sharply on its lead-in (+25%), ABC's Secret Millionaire matched the prior week's season-high in Adults 18-49.

From 9-11pm, ABC's EM: Weight Loss Edition once again grew during each half-hour of its broadcast, surging by 1.0 million viewers and 33% in Adults 18-49 from start to finish. In fact, the ABC unscripted series shot up to rank #1 during its second hour from 10-11pm with Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

ABC ranked No. 1 on Sunday night among Adults 18-49 for the 2nd week running (1.4/4-tie), beating CBS (with the Sunday premiere of "Big Brother 14") by 27% (1.1/3) and NBC (with a 2-hour "Dateline") by 56% (0.9/3). ABC also won the night with Adults 25-54 and across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).

· For the 2nd week in a row, ABC matched its strongest Sunday this summer with regular programming.

The broad-appealing ABC series also won its time period across all key Women demographics and Kids 2-11.

· Launching over the prior week's repeat by 16% in Total Viewers (5.2 million vs. 4.5 million) and 20% with Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 1.0/4), ABC's "AFHV" delivered its best performance this summer to date. In addition, the veteran ABC video-clip show was up over its year-ago telecast by 4% and 9% with viewers and young adults, respectively (5.0 million and 1.1/4 on 7/17/11).

"Secret Millionaire" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Building sharply on its lead-in (+25%), ABC's "Secret Millionaire" matched the prior week's season-high in Adults 18-49 (1.5/5).

"EM: Weight Loss Edition" (9:00-11:00 p.m.)

From 9:00-11:00 p.m., ABC's "EM: Weight Loss Edition" continued to grow during each half-hour of its broadcast, soaring by 1.0 million viewers (3.7 million to 4.7 million) and 33% in Adults 18-49 (1.2/3 to 1.6/5) from start to finish. In fact, the ABC unscripted series shot up to rank No. 1 during its second hour from 10:00-11:00 p.m. with Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 44% currently, from 41% at the same point in 2011. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
