"Revolution" Tops "Castle" and "Hawaii Five-0" in All Key Demos; "The Voice" Is #1 for the Night
NBC spins the numbers for Monday, September 24.

Monday Results (updated with notes on the primetime week and correcting the rating for "Castle") (ABC carried NFL coverage in Milwaukee):

· NBC won the opening night of the 2012-13 season among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, with "The Voice" delivering the #1 rating of the night and "Revolution" winning among ABC, CBS and NBC in all key demos at 10. For the night, NBC is up 122 percent vs. last year's opening night (with a 4.0 rating vs. a 1.8)

· From 8-10:01 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (4.2 rating, 11 share in adults 18-49, 11.9 million viewers overall) delivered the #1 results of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and other key demos, winning the time period head to head versus the season premiere of CBS's Monday comedies, ABC's season premier of "Dancing With the Stars" and week two of Fox's "Bones" and "The Mob Doctor." "The Voice" topped #2 CBS by a margin of 35 percent in 18-49 rating (4.2 vs. 3.1) and out-rated "Dancing With the Stars" by 56 percent (4.2 vs. 2.7).

· Despite the arrival of season-premiere competition on ABC and CBS, "The Voice" is running within 11 percent of last week's 4.7 in 18-49 and within 9 percent of the 4.6 reported in these preliminary fast-affiliate ratings.

· "The Voice" delivered growth throughout its time period, generating this track in 18-49 rating: 3.4, 4.1, 4.7, 4.8, for a gain of 1.4 rating points or 41 percent from the show's first half-hour to its fourth. In total viewers, the increase is 27 percent or nearly 2.8 million persons (12.9 million vs. 10.2 million).

· "The Voice" is up 40 percent versus NBC's 18-49 average in the time period last season (4.2 vs. 3.0) and up 37 percent in total viewers (11,926 million vs. 8.682 million). Versus its averages for the show's final four Monday telecasts last spring, "The Voice" is up 14 percent in 18-49 (4.2 vs. 3.7) and 18 percent in total viewers (11,926 vs. 10.149 million).

· From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "Revolution" (3.5/9 in adults 18-49, 9.3 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics. "Revolution" retained 85 percent of last week's powerful premiere rating despite the arrival of competition this week from CBS's "Hawaii Five-0" and ABC's "Castle." "Revolution's" 18-49 margin of victory in the hour is 40 percent vs. "Castle" (3.5 vs. 2.5) and 84 percent vs. "Hawaii Five-0" (3.5 vs. 1.9).

· Note that "Revolution" has started out as a highly time-shifted show, last week adding 1.36 rating points to its L+SD 4.09 in "live plus three day" results (5.45). It's the biggest increase ever from L+SD to L+3 for NBC and biggest ever for a series debut on any network.

· Last week's debut jumped 1.36 rating points from its "live plus same day" rating (4.09) to its "live plus three day" rating (5.45).

· That 1.36 increase is the biggest gain for any NBC telecast ever and the biggest increase for any series premiere on any network ever (with the previous high being 1.14 for Fox's "The New Girl").

· The only series on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox to ever gain 1.36 rating points or more going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" have been "Modern Family," "Grey's Anatomy," "The New Girl," "Big Bang Theory," the post-Super Bowl telecast of "Glee" and the first appearance by Ashton Kutcher on "Two and a Half Men."

· "Revolution" has now reached a total of 24.2 million viewers who've watched all or part of last week's premiere or the Wednesday encore.

· In "live plus three day" results, "Revolution's 5.4 makes it NBC's top 10 p.m. premiere in nearly eight years, since "Medium" (6.3 on January 3, 2005), excluding previews.

· "Revolution's" 3.5 rating last night in L+SD tops the ratings of every telecast of every regular 10 p.m. drama on ABC, CBS and NBC last season except for the February 6 premiere of "Smash."

· "Revolution" is up 119 percent versus NBC's average in the time period last season in 18-49 rating (3.5 vs. 1.6, L+SD non-sports) and up 82 percent in total viewers (9.287 million vs. 5.106 million).

In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday night:

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.5/6; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.2/5; and ABC's combo of "Nightline," 3.2/7; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.5/5.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.5/2; "Nightline," 0.8/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/3.

· At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.2/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's first-run "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

For the Week:

· NBC has captured the primetime ratings week of September 17-23, led by the #1 show in 18-49 and total viewers, "Sunday Night Football," while Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" and Monday's premiere of "Revolution" delivered the top three non-sports ratings on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49, and "Go On" was #7 non-sports. According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC finished the week with an average 3.0 rating, 9 share in adults 18-49 and 8.4 million viewers overall.

· It's the seventh time in nine weeks that NBC has ranked #1 or tied for #1 among ABC, CBS NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and the seventh time in nine weeks NBC has led outright among those networks in total viewers.

· For the week, NBC was #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox on four of seven nights in 18-49 (Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday) and three of seven in total viewers (Monday, Saturday and Sunday).

· NBC Sports' Patriots-Ravens "Sunday Night Football" coverage delivered the #1 primetime rating of the week on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, total viewers and all key adult-male categories, while "The Voice" was #1 in all key adult-female demos.

· "Sunday Night Football" has been #1 in 18-49 and total viewers for three of three weeks so far this NFL season and has delivered more than 21 million viewers with each telecast through week three for the first time in its seven seasons on NBC.

· For the week, NBC claimed five of the top 10 rankings in adults 18-49 among primetime programs on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox (excluding all football pre- and post-game telecasts). In 18-49, top NBC programs for the week included "Sunday Night Football (#1), Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" (tied for #2), "Revolution" (#4), "Go On" (#8), "The New Normal" (#15), "The Office" (tied for #16), "Notre Dame Football" (#18), "Parenthood" (tied for #21) and "Parks and Recreation" (tied for #24). In total viewers, NBC was led by "Sunday Night Football" (#1), Tuesday and Monday editions of "The Voice" (#2 and #3 respectively), "Revolution" (#6), "Go On" (#12), "Notre Dame Football" (#22) and "The New Normal" (#23).. .

· Primetime averages for the week of September 17-23 in adults 18-49 were: NBC (3.0/9), CBS (1.9/6), Fox (1.8/5), ABC (1.7/5) and CW (0.3/1). In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: NBC (8.4 million), CBS (7.9 million), Fox (6.0 million), ABC (5.2 million) and CW (0.8 million).

· For the completed 2011-12 broadcast year, NBC finished #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adult 18-49 rating and total viewers, running within a tenth of a rating point of first-place Fox in 18-49. NBC is also #2 for the broadcast year in total viewers and adults 18-34 and tied for #2, and within a tenth of a point of #1, in adults 25-54. NBC is the only network among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox that's up versus one year ago in total viewers and viewers 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54. Averages for the completed broadcast year are: Fox (2.7/8), NBC (2.6/8), CBS (2.4/7), ABC (2.1/6) and CW (0.6/2). In overall total viewers, the broadcast-year averages are: CBS (9.8 million), NBC (8.1 million), Fox (7.5 million), ABC (7.3 million) and CW (1.4 million).
