Wednesday Primetime Results:
* From 8-10 p.m. ET, "Miss Universe 2012" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall) grew by 13 percent versus last year's telecast in 18-49 rating (to a 1.8 from a 1.6) and was up 15 percent in total viewers (6.1 million vs. 5.3 million). Note that last year's coverage ran from 9-11 p.m. ET on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011. In total viewers, this is the biggest "Miss Universe" audience in four years (since 2008, 6.7 million). Versus NBC's average in the time period last season, "Miss Universe" is up 50 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.8 from a 1.2, L+SD non-sports). "Miss Universe" ranked #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings measures.
* From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Miss Universe 2012" grew by 53 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.3 from a 1.5) and by 33 percent or 1.8 million persons in total viewers (7.3 million vs. 5.5 million).
* At 10 p.m. ET, "Chicago Fire" (1.9/5 in adults 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) jumped 36 percent week to week (to a 1.9 from a 1.4) to match the show's second-highest rating ever. The only higher-rated "Chicago Hope" was the November 7 telecast (2.2), which followed a special Wednesday edition of "The Voice." In total viewers, "Chicago Hope" is up week to week by 35 percent or 1.7 million persons (6.6 million vs. 4.9 million).
* "Chicago Hope" is #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.
* "Chicago Hope" is the first 10 p.m. drama this week on ABC, CBS and NBC to increase in 18-49 rating from its first half-hour to its second (to a 1.9 from a 1.8). "Chicago Hope" also grew half-hour to half-hour by 9 percent in 25-54 (2.4 vs. 2.2) and 3 percent in total viewers (6.7 million vs. 6.5 million).
In Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday night:
* In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.9/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.5/6; and ABC's combo of "Nightline," 3.2/7; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.5/4 with an encore.
* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.6/3; "Nightline," 1.1/5; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3 with an encore.
* At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.6/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).
* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 1.0/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
