Live + 7 Day Ratings: ABC's "Modern Family" Surges Ahead of NBC's "The Voice" in Adults 18-49

Live + 7 Day Ratings for the week of 4/1/13 (Week #28):

Based on Live + 7 Day ratings among Adults 18-49, ABC's Modern Family (6.3 rating) moved ahead of NBC's The Voice, beating both the Monday and Tuesday editions by 15% each (5.5 rating). The ABC sitcom solidified its rank as Wednesday's #1 TV show, increasing its lead over Fox's American Idol-Weds (3.7) to a huge 70% with young adults (versus 35% in the initial Live + Same Day ratings).

Based on Nielsen's TV playback data for the week, ABC claimed 2 of the 4 biggest broadcast gainers via time-shifted viewing among Adults 18-49, with Modern Family gaining +2.1 rating points (#1) and Grey's Anatomy adding on +1.5 rating points (#4) to their L+SD numbers. Modern Family was also the week's biggest overall gainer in time-shifted viewing, picking up +4.41 million viewers.

· Among Adults 18-49, ABC saw 4 shows add on at least a full rating point to their first reported Live + Same Day numbers: Modern Family (+2.1 rating points), Grey's Anatomy (+1.5 rating points), Scandal (+1.1 rating points) and Castle (+1.0 rating points).

· ABC had 6 shows gain more than 2 million viewers over their initially reported totals: Modern Family (+4.41 million), Castle (+3.36 million), Grey's Anatomy (+3.27 million), Scandal (+2.95 million), Body of Proof (+2.43 million) and Nashville (+2.29 million).

Season-to-Date TV Playback (9/24/12-4/7/13):

Based on TV playback data for the 2012-13 season, ABC's Modern Family is the season's biggest gainer via time-shifted viewing in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, adding on +4.58 million viewers and +2.2 rating points. The ABC sitcom is Wednesday's #1 TV show this season with Adults 18-49, defeating Fox's American Idol-Weds by 29% (6.6 rating vs. 5.1 rating). In addition, Modern Family beats NBC's The Voice by 27% (5.2) and The Voice-Tues by 38% (4.8) this season to date.

Grey's Anatomy is this season's #1 broadcast drama in the key young adult demo (4.8 rating).
