"48 HOURS: LIVE TO TELL: HUNTING HUMANS" WAS SATURDAY'S #2 PROGRAM WITH VIEWERS AND HOUSEHOLDS

48 HOURS: "The Perfect Family" encore was Saturday's #1 program adults 25-54 - the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news - as well as viewers and households, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Aug. 10, 2013. At 10:00 PM, 48 HOURS: "The Perfect Family" (R) was first in adults 25-54 (1.2/04), viewers (4.51m), adults 18-49 (0.9/03) and households (3.1/06).

At 9:00 PM, 48 HOURS: "Live to Tell: Hunting Humans" (R) was first in adults 25-54 (0.8/03), viewers (3.33m), adults 18-49 (0.6/02) and households (2.4/05). 48 HOURS: "Live to Tell: Hunting Humans" was the night's #2 program in households and viewers, behind 48 HOURS: "The Perfect Family."

Saturday's 48 HOURS: "The Perfect Family" featured double Tracy Smith's report on the investigation into the murder of Ruth Pyne, who was brutally murdered in 2011. Pyne was the matriarch of a seemingly all-American family living outside of Detroit, but, after she was stabbed and beaten, police investigating Ruth's death revealed life wasn't so perfect. Five months into the investigation, Pyne's son Jeffrey was charged with murder.

The night's double feature began at 9:00 PM with an encore broadcast of 48 HOURS: "Live to Tell: Hunting Humans," which included Shea McDonough's firsthand account of awaking one night to a man holding a knife to her neck. She fought back and her family raced to help. Together they battled the attacker. Later they learned the man, Adam Leroy Lance, was tied to murders in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

48 HOURS: "The Perfect Family" is produced by Liza Finley, Marc Goldbaum and Ruth Chenetz. Richard Barber, Ken Blum, Marlon Disla, Gregory McLaughlin, Mike Mongulla and Basil Pappas are the editors.
