Primetime Segment of "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" Soars Versus Year-Ago Results by 64% in 18-49 Rating and 53% in Total Viewers
NBC spins the numbers for Tuesday, December 31.

Tuesday Primetime Results in Fast-Affiliate Ratings:

· From 10-11 p.m. ET, the primetime segment of "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" (1.8/6 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) soared versus year-ago results by 64% in 18-49 rating (1.8/6 vs. 1.1/4) and 53% or 2.0 million persons in total viewers (5.775 million vs. 3.776 million viewers overall).

· These are record results for the 10-11 p.m. ET edition of "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly," covering seven years of telecasts (2004 and 2008-13).

· Versus two years ago, the 10-11 p.m. portion of "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" is up 100% in 18-49 rating (1.8 vs. 0.9) and up 89% or 2.7 million person in total viewers (5.775 million vs. 3.053 million).

· From 8-10 p.m. ET, the NBC News Special "A Toast to 2013!" (1.6/6 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, tied for #1 in adults 18-34 (with a 1.5 rating) and was #1 outright among those nets in men 18-34 (1.4). From its first half-hour to its fourth, "A Toast to 2013!" grew by 46% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.9 rating from a 1.3) and by 20% or 1.1 million persons in total viewers (6.6 million vs. 5.5 million).

· NBC ranked #2 in primetime among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and all other key demos. Versus New Year's Eve 2012, NBC was up 89% in adults 18-49 (with a 1.7 rating vs. a 0.9) and up 79% or 2.6 million persons in total viewers (5.952 million vs. 3.323 million).

In Late-Night Metered-Market Household Averages for Tuesday night:

· From 11:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m., "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" (5.2 rating, 11 share in metered-market households) is up 6 percent versus last year's 4.9/11, to match the annual special's highest rating ever in its nine years on the air. The only other year "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" was able to match last night's 5.2 was four years ago on Dec. 31, 2009. Versus two years ago, last night's rating is up 21% (5.2/11 vs. 4.3/10 on Dec. 31, 2011).

· "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" was the only 11 or 11:30 telecast on ABC, NBC or Fox to grow versus last year. Other late-night averages last night in the 56 markets metered by Nielsen included: Fox's "New Year's Eve Live," 2.6/6 in metered-market households from 11 p.m.-12:30 a.m., down 7% vs. last year's 2.8/6.; and "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2013" on ABC, 10.1/24 from 11:30 p.m.-1:15 a.m., down 5% vs. last year's 10.6/25.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" (3.1 rating, 11 share in adults 18-49) is up 11 percent versus last year's 2.8/10) to hit a four-year high (best since 2009, 3.4). It's the second highest Local People Meter rating to date for the annual special in its nine years on the air (2005-2013). Versus two years ago, "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" is up 19% (3.1/11 vs. 2.6/9 on Dec. 31, 2011). Other results last night were a 2.1/8 for Fox's "New Year's Eve Live," up 5% vs. last year's 2.0/7; and 7.1/28 for ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2013," down 8% vs. last year's 7.7/29.

· National results for the December 31 late-night programs, including viewer numbers, are due from Nielsen Media Research on Thursday, Jan. 9.

Note that the strong results for "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" are part of a big holiday season at NBC that has included:

· The biggest audience in People Meter history for "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" (25.2 million).

· "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" hit a seven-year high in adults 18-49 (2.3 rating) and a three-year high in total viewers (9.7 million).

· "The Sound of Music Live!" delivered NBC's biggest Thursday in total viewers since 2004 (18.7 million viewers in "live plus same day," 21.8 million in "live plus seven days").
