Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX, "Idol" Pull Back in Front in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/16/14):

FOX (8.383 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) was back in front on Wednesday thanks to a new two-hour "American Idol" (8.383 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2).

CBS (7.668 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) then claimed the silver with a new "Survivor: Cagayan" (9.281 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) alongside repeats of "Criminal Minds" (6.924 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4) and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (6.801 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6).

Next up was NBC (4.688 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its all-repeat lineup of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (4.699 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #9), another "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (5.180 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5) and "Chicago PD" (4.186 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T10).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.807 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) offered up its mix of "The Middle" (4.884 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6), "Suburgatory" (3.574 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T10), "Modern Family" (5.072 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3), a new "Mixology" (3.704 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and "Nashville" (2.804 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12).

And finally, new episodes of "Arrow" (2.362 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12) and "The 100" (2.023 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.6, #14) on The CW (2.192 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Arrow" delivered a 0.5 rating while "100" posted a 0.4 rating.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's first-run "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

The silver then went to CBS (7.746 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) with a new "Survivor: Caramoan - Fans vs. Favorites" (9.819 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.6, #2) followed by repeats of "Criminal Minds" (7.115 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T5) and "Elementary" (6.304 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T8).

Next up was ABC (4.844 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3) with a new "Suburgatory" (5.363 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.5, #7) followed by the season finale of "Suburgatory" (5.453 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T5), a repeat of "Modern Family" (6.379 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T3), a new "How to Live with Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life)" (6.015 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T3) and a repeat of "Nashville" (2.927 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #12).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.410 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) offered up its mix of "Dateline NBC" (5.060 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T8) plus repeats of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (4.498 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #10) and "Chicago Fire" (3.672 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #11).

And finally, rebroadcasts of "Arrow" (1.655 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #14) and "Supernatural" (1.553 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #13) on The CW (1.604 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) closed out the evening.
