SAINTS-COWBOYS ON NBC "SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL" TOPS ALL "PREMIERE WEEK" PRIMETIME PROGRAMMING IN RATING, VIEWERSHIP & DEMOS

Since SNF on NBC Debut in 2006, NBC NFL Games Account for 26 of 45 September Primetime Shows on All Networks to Average 20+ Million Viewers

NBC NFL Telecasts Averaging 23.0 Million Viewers This Season

STAMFORD, Conn. - September 30, 2014 - The Dallas Cowboys' 21-point victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday Night Football was the most-watched primetime program in "Premiere Week," drawing an average of 22.7 million viewers on NBC, according to official national data released today by The Nielsen Company.

Since NBC's Sunday Night Football debut in 2006, NBC's NFL games have accounted for the majority of big audience, "appointment viewing" primetime telecasts in the month of September. Of the 45 regularly-scheduled primetime telecasts in September since 2006 to average 20+ million viewers - 26 (or 58%) are NBC NFL telecasts.

In addition to ranking #1 in viewership for the week, the 38-17 Cowboys win on Sunday Night Football (8:31-11:01 PM ET) posted Premiere Week's highest primetime rating (13.3/22), and was primetime's top show in overall Adults, Men, and Women 18-49 and 18-34 demographics. The 22.7 million viewers (live + same day) for the game topped primetime's #2 show by 25% (Big Bang Theory, 18.2 million viewers).

Dallas' win, highlighted by Tony Romo's three scoring passes and DeMarco Murray's 149 rushing yards with two touchdowns, drew 11% more viewers than last year's Week 4 SNF game (20.5 million for Patriots-Falcons).

Through five NFL telecasts, NBC is averaging 23.0 million viewers - up 2% from last year (22.6 million) and marking the fifth consecutive year with a 22.5+ million average at this point in the season. This season's viewership increase has come despite each game having a score differential of at least 12 points heading into the fourth quarter - the first time that has happened in the season's opening five games in NBC's SNF history.
