Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: NBA Finals Open on Top for ABC

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (6/4/15):

ABC (12.499 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.8, #1) was the network to beat on Thursday with its coverage of "Jimmy Kimmel: Game Night" (7.898 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.7, #3), "NBA Countdown" (9.617 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.6, #2) and "NBA Finals, Game 1" (14.370 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.6, #1).

FOX (4.661 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then was a distant second place with new episodes of "Bones" (5.124 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and "Wayward Pines" (4.200 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5).

Next up was CBS (5.604 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and its repeat lineup of "The Big Bang Theory" (7.412 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4), "The Odd Couple" (5.787 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5), "Mom" (5.842 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9), "Mike & Molly" (5.487 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) and "Elementary" (4.547 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.321 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) served up originals from "Dateline NBC" (6.419 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and "Aquarius" (3.922 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11) plus the season premiere of "Hannibal" (2.621 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11).

And finally, repeats of "iZombie" (0.757 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) and "The Vampire Diaries" (0.600 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) on The CW (0.678 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.3 rating at 8:00/7:00c and the latter a 0.1 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4; "The Mentalist" rebroadcast, 0.3/1; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.1/7, delayed by an NBA Finals overrun.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline," delayed by an NBA Finals overrun, averaged a 1.7/7 in metered-market households and a 0.8/6 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (6/5/14):

ABC (10.657 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.2, #1) overshadowed the competition on Thursday with its mix of "Jimmy Kimmel: Game Night" (6.354 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.1, #3), "Kia NBA Countdown" (7.143 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.8, #2) and "NBA Finals, Game 1" (12.612 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.1, #1).

CBS (5.708 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T2) then claimed the number two spot with its all-repeat lineup of "The Big Bang Theory" (8.836 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #4), "Mom" (6.207 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #7), "Two and a Half Men" (5.427 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8), "The Millers" (4.585 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T10) and "Elementary" (4.596 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14).

Next up was NBC (3.795 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T2) and its combination of "Hollywood Game Night" (4.113 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8), "Undateable" (3.124 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T10), another "Undateable" (2.923 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T10) and "Last Comic Standing" (4.248 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.4, #6).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.785 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T2) served up originals from "Hell's Kitchen" (4.594 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.6, #5) and "Gang Related" (2.976 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #13).

And finally, The CW (0.690 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening with second runs of "The Vampire Diaries" (0.776 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15) and "The Originals" (0.604 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.2, #16).
